Background

Subchan is a Professor of System Optimization at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. He obtained a BSc in Mathematics from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya (1994), an MSc in Mathematics from Technische Universiteit Delft, the Netherlands (2000), and a PhD in Computational Optimal Control from the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Cranfield University (2006).

He joined the Mathematics Department at ITS in 1997 as a lecturer and was appointed as the Head of the Data Processing and Operations Research Laboratory in 2009, Secretary of the Robotics Centre at ITS in 2010, Head of the Modelling and Simulation Laboratory in 2011, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at Kalimantan Institute of Technology from 2015 to 2019, and Head of the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Science and Data Analytics from 2020 to 2024.

Subchan was a research fellow at the Department of Aerospace Power and Sensors, Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Cranfield University, and a member of Team Stellar, the winning team for the UK Ministry of Defence Grand Challenge in 2008. He was also honoured as the Best Lecturer at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya, in 2012.
