On December 15, 2024, the Mathematics Department held an internship seminar attended by students who had completed their internship courses at various companies. This seminar is part of the 2023-2028 curriculum, where internships are a mandatory course for all students.
In this seminar, students presented their experiences and internship results in front of internal supervisors and external supervisors from the companies where they worked. Each student had the opportunity to share the challenges and solutions they found during their internship, as well as how these experiences enriched their knowledge and skills in mathematics.
This internship is designed to provide real-world industry experience, allowing students to apply the theories they have learned in class to everyday work practices. With guidance from internal and external supervisors, students are expected to develop better analytical and problem-solving skills.
One student, Nisrina who did her internship at PT. PLN UP3 Madiun, revealed that the biggest challenge he faced during the internship was adapting to the company’s work culture. “Initially, I found it difficult to adapt to the fast work pace and high expectations. However, with guidance from my external supervisor and support from my colleagues, I managed to overcome these challenges and learned many new things,” he said.
This seminar also served as a platform for students to receive constructive feedback from their supervisors and peers, as well as to expand their professional networks. The Mathematics Department hopes that through this internship program, students will be better prepared to face challenges in the workforce after graduation.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A and discussion session, where participants and supervisors could exchange ideas and experiences. This internship seminar is expected to inspire other students to continue excelling and developing themselves in the field of mathematics.
