Dr. Berto Mulia Wibawa is a senior lecturer at the Department of Business Management, Faculty of Creative Design and Digital Business at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya. He obtained his PhD from the School of Business at Monash University. His dissertation is titled “Essays on the Insights of Women Entrepreneurship: Dark-Side Experiences and Training Efficacy.” As an expert in conducting mixed-method studies, Berto is proficient in utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods in entrepreneurship research. He is skilled in data analysis using software such as NVivo, Stata, SPSS, and PLS-SEM. During his PhD studies, he also worked as a research assistant on several entrepreneurship projects in Malaysia and Indonesia. At ITS, he served as the Head of the Undergraduate Program from 2017 to 2020 and as the Deputy Head of the Department from 2020 to 2021 in the Department of Business Management. He obtained his master’s degree from IPB University and his bachelor’s degree from Padjajaran University.
Berto is a professional and certified business trainer and coach with experience in helping over 2000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia to scale up their businesses. He is actively involved in curriculum development for entrepreneurship courses in international level, and belongs to UNESCO-APEID network. His research interests cover topics such as women entrepreneurship, disadvantaged entrepreneurship, marketing research, and business model innovation. He is frequently invited to serve as a judge in national and international business plan and business case competitions.
Additionally, he has extensive experience as a professional consultant, having managed over 100 projects involving business feasibility studies, new product development research, consumer research, business planning, business roadmaps, and experimental studies. These projects were conducted for clients ranging from national governments, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), private companies, and MSMEs.
