MKPI and BMKG Discuss Tsunami Early Warning System Research
News
MKPI ITS – BMKG initiated the Indonesia Disaster Resilience Initiatives Project (IDRIP) with a focus on the activities of the Merah Putih InaTEWS Processing System. This activity was carried out to fulfill BMKG’s ambition to become independent in tsunami early warning, which previously used tools from Germany. In this activity BMKG cooperates with ITS and universities as the activity implementing team, three other campuses namely UI, UGM and ITB. The meeting which was held on Thursday, 8 June 2023 discussed the scope of research that the BMKG expected to be carried out by the ITS team. The plan is for ITS to conduct tectonic tsunami modeling, inundation modeling, and atypical tsunami observations.
