MKPI ITS – The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has a target to increase staff competency through higher level education at domestic and foreign universities. East Java is one of the areas that has a high demand for this competency improvement with the presence of 10 BMKG stations with an estimated 250 staff active in them. Therefore, BMKG on Wednesday (09/08) conducted a visitation to the ITS Postgraduate Directorate to collaborate in the academic field for master’s and doctoral education.
At this meeting ITS offered various kinds of education schemes for BMKG staff, both in the regular program, fasttrack, PMDSU, double degree, to PJJ. One of the study programs present was the Masters in System and Technology Innovation (MIST) in the field of Disaster Risk Mitigation concentration which is ready to become a forum for developing skills and research in the field of disaster risk mitigation which is closely related to the focus of research at the BMKG. BMKG welcomes the programs available at ITS and seeks to hasten the socialization process so that the staff’s studies can take place in the near future.
