MKPI ITS – The earthquake that occurred in the sea north of Tuban, East Java on March 22 is still showing subsequent activity to this day. This condition resulted in damage to buildings, not only on Bawean Island as an island close to the earthquake point, but also in the area of Java Island. Mobilizing the competence of Civil Engineering experts, the ITS Disaster Mitigation and Climate Change Research Center (MKPI) formed an earthquake task force to provide free consultations.
It is important to know that the cause of the high number of victims during disaster emergencies is because building structures are unsafe and not earthquake friendly. So it is important for existing buildings to have their condition checked so that they do not cause losses in the future. The Tuban earthquake has shown differences in conditions between buildings that are earthquake friendly and those that are not, one example of which is the hospital building at Airlangga University.
The MKPI Earthquake Task Force Team provides online post-earthquake building condition consultation services that can be completed practically. The reporter only needs to prepare a clear map and video regarding the condition of the building so that a team of structural experts can carry out a quick assessment as an initial indication of the building’s safety condition. The results of the assessment will then be sent to the reporter via WhatsApp from the MKPI Earthquake Task Force Team.
Consultation on the condition of the building can be done in just 3 easy steps, namely:
