Team implementing FGD activities to Strengthen Surabaya Community Resilience against Floods

MKPI ITS – On 21-22 February 2024, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya together with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Australia will host a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) Strengthening Community Resilience against Flood. This activity is a proactive step in responding to the challenges of flooding that often hit the Surabaya area.

This FGD is part of international collaborative research which aims to increase community resilience to flood disasters, especially vulnerable groups. Involving experts and practitioners from ITS Surabaya, QUT, and UTS Australia, this activity is a form of cross-border collaboration in an effort to find innovative solutions for reducing flood risk.

Discussion process in FGD Strengthening Community Resilience

In this FGD, stakeholders from various levels of society participated, creating an inclusive platform and supporting active participation. Also present at this event were KONEKSI management, Bappenas, Water Resources and Highways Service, BPBD, Bappeda, as well as sub-district heads, village heads, RT/RW who created holistic discussions and were based on the real needs of the community.
