Plays an active role in the development of science and technology, especially in the field of advanced materials and nanotechnology with research and collaboration with national and international partners
Advanced Materials are materials that have certain superior properties in terms of physical, chemical, mechanical and other properties. Currently, advanced materials have become a major requirement in various advanced industries, and this has even become one of the indicators of a country’s industrial progress. While nanotechnology is material engineering technology using certain methods that can produce very small sizes on the nanometer scale.
The merging of these two fields will produce a superior product that is close to the ideal properties of the material. For this reason, research on advanced materials and nanotechnology in Indonesia has become a priority to anticipate current technological developments and support industrial development by utilizing the resources and potential of local raw materials. Industrial development has various dimensions of benefits, among others:
Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, which is one of the Higher Education Institutions with Legal Entities has also responded to this trend in technological development since 2010 by establishing a research center related to advanced materials. Currently the name of the research center is “Research Center for Advanced Materials and Nano Technology” or by another name “NanoTech Center” under the Directorate of Research and Community Service ITS.
Produce research and community service activities in the field of advanced materials and high-standard nanotechnology, both on a national and international scale
Being a forum for researchers for research through collaboration both nationally and internationally
Provides consulting service users in identifying and analyzing, and alternative solutions to problems in the field of advanced materials and nanotechnology through quality research activities both on a national and international scale
