Suhaiza Zailani received her MSc and PhD in Management Science from Lancaster University, England, United Kingdom, in 1995 and 1998, respectively. She is a Professor of Supply Chain with the Faculty of Business and Accountancy, University Malaya. She was a Head of Training Section and Deputy Dean of Postgraduates, FBA, prior to her appointment as a Director to University of Malaya Entrepreneurship Center (UMEC) in 2014. As a director, she was responsible for identifying attractive opportunities for the graduates to excel in as entrepreneurs through her excellent industry linkage, both locally and overseas. Under her directorship, her centre has been selected as the best 20 entrepreneurship centres in the world for the ACCSB Entrepreneurship Spotlight Challenge. This challenge showcases how AACSB-accredited schools engage with business practices to provide students with opportunities to gain the core skills required to be successful in business whether that business is a start-up or a world-renowned corporation (https://aacsb.secure- platform.com/a/page/about/Entrepreneurship_Spotlight_Challenge/the_challenge).
Her field of expertise is in Supply Chain Management with a focus on the issues of sustainability and halal. Her achievements in SCM are excellent as is evident by the number and quantum of postgraduate’s students that she has supervised as well as the numbers of publications, research grants, consultations, training, industrial linkages, and professional appointments that she has successfully secured and fulfilled. She has written articles in the New Straits Times column on Supply Chain, e.g., SCM in the context of the New Economic Model and 1Malaysia Supply Chain: Reality or Myth. She has written articles in the New Straits Times column on Supply Chain, e.g., “SCM in the context of the New Economic Model” and “ 1Malaysia Supply Chain: Reality or Myth”. She has written a textbook in Operations Management and has now widely been used by the UG students and 2 other research books. She also has published more than 200 papers in various citation indexed journals on Operations Management, particularly in ISI-based and Scopus journals. Her current ISI H-Index is 32 with 3,836 total times cited and 120 articles, Scopus H-Index is 37 with 5,380 citations and 169 articles, and GS H-Index is 55 with 11,829 citations as of 16 July, 2022. She was nominated for National Academic Award by University Science Malaysia (USM) in 2012 and by University of Malaya (UM) in 2017 both for publication category. She won USM Sanggar Sanjung in 2012, was awarded the UM Distinguished Researcher in 2016, Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence in 2016, and last year, she was listed as one of the recipients for the Top 80 UM Researchers listed amongst the World’s Top 2% of scientists by Sandford University and was the only recipient from the arts discipline.
