Dr. Daryl Powell is an adjunct professor at the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management. He is also Chief Scientist and Research Manager at SINTEF Manufacturing, and a visiting professor at the University of Bergamo in Italy. With more than 15 years of experience in studying and guiding lean transformations, he was also recently awarded the honorary title of Professor of Practice in Lean Manufacturing at the University of Wales Trinity St. David, in Swansea, UK.
Dr. Powell’s research focusses on lean manufacturing, action learning, and digitalization. He has more than 100 publications and over 1500 citations, and is the proud recipient of both the Shingo Research Award (for the Routledge Companion to Lean Management), and the Shingo Publication Award (for the Lean Sensei). His research results have been published in leading academic journals such as the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, the International Journal of Production Research, and the International Journal of Lean Six Sigma.
