The first Capacity Building program within the Strategic Intellectual and Property Management Workshop for Effective Research and Innovations in Asian Higher Education (SPIRE) project was hosted by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia from 26-29 November 2017.
Located in Session Room I of Rectorate Building of ITS, the first international workshop which was held to discuss the empowerment of intellectual property rights in order to give the best protection for the researchers.
“Until now intellectual property rights are still a strategic issue among researchers and inventors, especially in Southeast Asia,” said Prof. Dr. Ir Ketut Buda Artana ST MSc, Vice Rector of ITS in Innovation, Cooperation, Alumni, and International Relations at the opening event.
When the commercialization phase later, the management of intellectual property rights have been strengthened, so the commercialization process can run smoothly without reducing the rights of researchers or inventors.
The next capacity building for the project will be at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand next year.
The project was co-funded by Erasmus+ of the European Union.
