Huawei Expects ITS Alumni to Become Part of ICT Progress

ITS Campus, ITS News – The Postgraduate Auditorium of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya is again crowded this time. It is PT Huawei Tech Investment Indonesia which held a 2019 Huawei Career Day event on Tuesday (23/4). Attended by fresh graduates from several universities in Surabaya, this event aims to capture skilled young talents in the fields of information, communication, and technology (ICT) to join Huawei.

Had formed a partnership three times, this time Huawei again cooperated with ITS in the process of recruiting workers. Different from previous years which combined seminars, competitions and the recruitment process, this year 2019 Huawei Career Day only focused on recruiting workers.

Inviting fresh graduates from campuses in Surabaya, Huawei accommodates applicants from various disciplines that are tailored to the competencies for each position offered. Of the hundred people who register online, as many as 85 people attended and joined the interview process which was carried out directly in front of the ITS Postgraduate Auditorium.

Through the direct recruitment process on campus, PT Huawei’s Human Resource stated that they would like to invite the best graduates from ITS to be part of the most advanced technological developments with Huawei. Job applicants are graduates of the second half of 2018 and the first half of 2019.

Before the job interview takes place, 2019 Huawei Career Day begins with sharing about the development and progress of today’s digital technology. Sharing which was attended by more than 200 participants who were also ITS students was delivered by professionals in the field of ICT.

With the growth of ICTs, more professionals will be needed in the ICT field. As stated by Dani K Ristandi, Huawei Indonesia’s Human Resource Director, which refers to data from the World Bank, predicts that in the next ten years the world will need approximately two million professionals in the field of ICT in various aspects of the industry. For this reason, Huawei hopes that many ITS alumni will join. “Hopefully this year there will be many ITS alumni who are qualified,” he said.

Presented by Agus Sulistio, Managed Services Delivery Director of Huawei Indonesia, that in the next 30 years, all aspects of life will be integrated and connected with ICT. In addition, he also said that the market potential for the digital field is very large. “Digital market has the potential to reach 23 trillion USD, in 2025,” he explained.

The various technologies currently being developed are 5G technology, Artificial Intelligent (AI), Machine Learning, and the Internet of Thing (IoT). Where IoT itself contributes potential of 11.1 trillion USD from the total digital market potential mentioned.

Themed Run The World With Bravery, this sharing is also intended to raise the spirit of the young generation in developing the great potential of the digital world in the future. As we already know, the digital world is growing rapidly and will be the center of all activities in everyday life in the future. “We have to be brave, be brave in moving towards the future,” said Agus.

In addition, one of the alumni of ITS Electrical Engineering who worked at Huawei, Dwi Ardiansyah also provided motivation. The man who now works as Huawei Indonesia’s General Manager Operation System explains that working in the ICT field is also the same as working in other fields. Requires high spirit and commitment.

In a certain phase when we have worked, he continued, of course, we are faced with various choices. One of them is to choose a proper and suitable place to work. This requires a lot of consideration from various aspects. “When we decide to work somewhere, we must be highly committed, we must also have an adaptive spirit,” he said. (yus/owi/herdiana)
