ITS Campus, ITS News – to succeed Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) steps to World Class University, cooperation with overseas colleges have been increasingly promoted. This time, ITS received a visit from Saxion University of Applied Sciences to discuss the formulation of a double degree program. The discussion went smoothly in ITS Rectorate Building, Monday (23/9).
The visitation by Saxion University of Applied Sciences aims to strengthen the cooperation with ITS that has been woven since 2006. The visit was attended by the rector of ITS Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng, Ir. W J Mensonides and Ir. P H M Patrick de Lange as delegates from the Saxion University of Applied Sciences, and head of Departement of Civil Engineering Tri Joko Wahyu Adi ST MT Ph.D. and other lecturers.
This meeting planned to discuss the double degree program plan that will be applied in the Departement of Civil Engineering. This form of the program is not much different from a double degree program in general. The implementation of academic activities will take place for three years at the College of Origin (home) and one to two years in a partner’s College (host). “For the Department of Civil Engineering itself, lecturing at Saxion University of Applied Sciences will be run for a year,” said the head of Department of Civil Engineering ITS, Tri Joko Wahyu Adi ST MT Ph.D.
The discussion also discusses cooperation plans for other programs, such as student exchange, lecturer exchange, and internship. The Saxion University of Applied Sciences also hopes to be able to do research and project along with the Department of Civil Engineering. “We (Department of Civil Engineering, red) will strive to successful programs that have been discussed together with the Saxion University of Applied Sciences,” said the man who is also an alumnus of ITS.
In addition to discussions, the Saxion University of Applied Sciences also conducted a class observation for the double degree program. It was done to see the readiness of Departement of Civil Engineering ITS to open the double degree program in the future.
With this discussion, Prof Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng as ITS rector hoped that in the future, ITS and Saxion University of Applied Sciences could learn from each other. Ashari considers the possibility of presenting a double degree program for other departments in ITS. “Saxion University of Applied Sciences is very open to accepting a cooperation offer from ITS,” he said.
