Nugrahardi Ramadhani SSn MT explained the Final Assignment Exhibition of ITS DKV students

ITS Campus, ITS News – In order to qualify for the Final Assignment (Thesis), the Visual Communication Design (DKV) and the Industrial Product Design (DESPRO) Department of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) held a Final Assignment Exhibition. The activity held at the ITS Product Design building lasted for five days, until Friday (17/1).

DKV Department Lecturer, Nugrahardi Ramadhani SSn MT explained, the exhibition was held with the aim that students have confidence in exposing their work that has been produced for one semester. “This exhibition also aims to make the students’ work appreciated by the public,” he added.

According to Dhani, his familiar greeting, the work of DKV students is a reflection of the problems that occur in the community. “Later students will design with certain methods and will be offered back to the community,” he explained.

This is proven by several works from the DKV Department students. One of them, Nabilah Putri Rahmania, with her work titled Design of Cultural Heritage Architecture in Surabaya as Home Decor Elements. This work is based on the lack of souvenirs with the identity of Surabaya. “She applied the form of cultural heritage buildings in Surabaya, which translates into souvenirs,” he said.

Similar to Nabilah, Fakih Wasi Auladi and Abdul Manan Heru in one group produced works in the form of animated films for children. The background of this work is due to the lack of animated content in Indonesia that uses imaginative elements. “The work of my student is aimed to make Indonesian children have alternative movies to sharpen their imagination skills,” Dhani explained.

The DKV Department Final Assignment Exhibition this time is a little different than a few years ago. Previously, this exhibition was held in public space, but because the work of the students did not have Intellectual Property Rights yet, then it was transferred to the campus. “So we warned it first. Maybe if there is an open house from ITS, we will try to showcase the work of DKV students, “he said.

According to Dhani, in the future, the DKV department will ask students to have innovations related to technology, particularly in virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality for their later work. “With the new spirit of ITS Rector, we will contribute to making it happen,” Dhani said.

This is in line with the Product Design Department lecturer explanation, M Yoma Alief Samboro ST MDs that the Industrial Product Design Department also held a Final Assignment Exhibition which was attended by 30 students. “The result of the final assignment is a presentation of the student research for one semester,” Yoma added.

The Final Assignment Exhibition of the Product Design Department held since Monday (7/1) with the final day on Wednesday (15/1). The exhibited student work focused on the field of medical equipment, automotive design, and daily equipment. One of them is the work of Joshua Luther Thenadi entitled The Use of Sustainable Materials for Classic Car Interiors.

This student explained that in the current era, the automotive world has begun to lead to electric cars so that classic cars are starting to be abandoned. “Therefore, here I made a classic car design that follows current development,” he explained.
