ITS Campus, ITS News – Entering the Covid-19 pandemic, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has contributed a lot in handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. In commemorating the academic contribution of its contribution, ITS gave awards to the community members who contributed to overcoming the outbreak through the commemoration of the One Year ITS Contribution in Fighting Covid-19, Monday (22/3).

In this online event, the award was given directly by ITS Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochamad Ashari M.Eng. In his crisis, Ashari explained that the contribution award in overcoming Covid-19 was given to three main parties. The first award was awarded to the ITS Covid-19 Task Force Team, who became ITS forefront of fighting the pandemic. “This team has worked hard for the last time by giving birth to many breakthroughs in facing this pandemic,” he said proudly.

Furthermore, the second party who received the award was the work unit at ITS. Of the many existing companies, ITS gave special recognition to five work units such as the Medical Center (Medcen), the Bureau of Facilities and Infrastructure (Sarpras), the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa), the Directorate of Technology and Information System Development (DPTSI), and the Public Communication Unit. (UKP). “The five of them make special contributions according to their respective fields of work,” said Ashari.

Finally, ITS also gave awards to 75 resource teams from various departments that played a role in overcoming pandemic conditions. Dozens of these teams were filled by hundreds of ITS academicians who provided support against the pandemic from the realms of research, innovation to community service. “Among the teams of lecturers, they also gave extraordinary breakthroughs such as the RAISA robot, i-nose c-19, ITS face shield, and various others,” explained this ITS professor of Electrical Engineering.

On the other hand, in the same event, ITS also implemented community service assistance in ITS hand sanitizers for 12 districts and cities in the East Java region. The ITS Chancellor provided this assistance through the Head of the Tuban District Health Office, Dr. Bambang Priyo Utomo.

Just a note, up to 5015 liters of hand sanitizer based on NaOCl, divided into two periods. The first period was held on January 29 and has distributed as many as 1,250 liters of health centers in Surabaya City, Kediri Regency, and Sidoarjo Regency.

The second period was on March 22-31, which was distributed to Sidoarjo Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Lumajang Regency, Gresik Regency, Tuban Regency, Lamongan Regency, Jombang Regency, Magetan Regency, Madiun Regency, Malang Regency and Sampang Regency.

In the second period, there were 72 lecturers involved, plus 360 students who were members of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka humanitarian project. The students helped with the distribution from their respective district health offices to puskesmas.

Meanwhile, to coincide with these directions, the ITS Covid-19 Task Force Team also presented a book entitled Motion of the ITS Covid-19 Task Force. The head of the ITS Covid-19 Task Force, Adjie Pamungkas S.T., M.Dev.Plg., Ph.D., revealed that the book was a summary of the task force team’s journey while being at the forefront of ITS in fighting the last pandemic. “Even though the pandemic has not ended, we hope that the existence of this book can spur the enthusiasm of ITS academicians to continue to struggle to overcome Covid-19,” he concluded encouragingly.
