ITS Campus, ITS News – The Indonesian government is currently promoting the industrial revolution 4.0, which demands the acceleration of information through digital technology. Taking a role in this transformation, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) joined hands with one of the best national companies, PT Sucofindo (Persero), in improving the quality of human resources, which was marked by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Thursday (20/5).

Remotely held, the MoU was signed directly by ITS Rector Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng and Commercial Director I PT Sucofindo (Persero) Herliana Dewi. The MoU signing was also attended by the Vice-Rector IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and ITS Alumni, Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD, and other directors from both parties.

In her opening remarks, Herliana Dewi explained that Sucofindo is one of the independent institutions appointed by the government to assess the company’s readiness to transform into the Industry 4.0 era. Related to that, PT Sucofindo is equipped with a 4.0 Readiness Index (INDI 4.0) service as a reference standard that involves experts, industry players, academics, and consultants. “Therefore, PT Sucofindo cooperates with leading universities in Indonesia to develop a framework through research and technology,” she explained.

Herliana further explained the fields carried out by the state-owned companies which provide these services. For example, there is a field of assessment services that increase the company’s understanding of industry 4.0, architectural strategic direction services to formulate the company’s strategy and business model in transforming towards industry 4.0, and implementation planning and consult services that focus on enterprise system management.

She hopes the MoU signing with ITS will support government programs mandated by PT Sucofindo in realizing industry 4.0 in various sectors. “We are optimistic that ITS can become a collaborating partner in providing experienced experts in their fields,” said Herlina.

In response, ITS Rector Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng welcomed this collaboration by confirming ITS ability and readiness to strengthen industry 4.0 in Indonesia. For example, Ashari mentioned the cooperation ITS had established with PT KAI and PT INKA in designing the Palembang LRT, Jakarta LRT, Jakarta – Bandung high-speed rail, and the Jakarta – Surabaya high-speed rail.

“ITS has ten research centers to support the industrial revolution 4.0 technology,” he said. Not only that, Ashari revealed that ITS is also equipped with Science Techno Park (STP) facilities which are divided into four fields: automotive, maritime, information communication technology (ICT), and robotics, as well as creative design.

Ashari said so far, ITS has produced many capable technological products. For example, electric car prototypes, developing uncrewed vessels, and even creating RAISA, the robot that helps treat Covid-19 patients in 17 hospitals in Indonesia.

Therefore, Ashari believes ITS can support PT Sucofindo in accelerating steps, increasing competitiveness, and improving human welfare in an industrial 4.0 environment in the future. “Hopefully, this collaboration will soon bring mutual success for both parties and our nation,” he concluded.
