Help Improve Expertise Certification, ITS – DAS Certification Signs MoU

ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to prove its readiness to improve the expertise of its academic community in order to meet the Research and Innovation University targets in the future. This was realized by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with DAS Certification, Wednesday (6/4).

Located in the Senate Meeting Room of the ITS Rectorate Building, the meeting which lasted approximately one hour was chaired directly by the Deputy Chancellor IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and ITS Alumni, Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD, dean of ITS, administrator of the center for policy studies ITS public, and its staff. From the DAS Certification side, the President Director (Director) of DAS Certification, Herry Priyono, and other senior leaders.

On that occasion, Bambang revealed that this MoU was presented by looking at the prospects of ITS in the future which would be targeted to become a Research and Innovation University. With this target, of course, ITS requires qualified expertise from each of its academics. “Therefore, we withdraw the DAS Certification in the realm of scientific innovation certification that has international standards,” he explained.

This DAS Certification seems to be in line with ITS in the field of research and innovation which both aim to achieve the Indonesia Industry (INDI) 4.0 target, energy audit, and industrial management training. Moreover, ITS is supported by 10 innovation research in the ITS Research Center (RC) Building, five strategic study centers, and implemented through four innovation clusters as downstream products that are safe to be brought to the Directorate of Innovation and Science Technology Area (DIKST) for publication to the public.

Furthermore, Bambang revealed that this DAS Certification will work with a focus on ITS student research that has been adapted to the needs and assessments used by State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). “Hopefully, after graduating, ITS students already have ISO-standard international certification so that they can be targeted to the Indonesian and international industrial markets, as well as BUMN,” he said.

Not only that, the lecturer of the Mechanical Engineering Department also hopes that ITS and DAS Certification can expand their cooperation by expanding into the world of training and general seminars that will be targeted for first year students.

The effort initiated by ITS to improve this international certification has the full support of DAS Certification. Herry explained that several innovations, research, and the needs of the ITS academic community could be improved through several ISO programs provided. Among them, ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ISO 27001 Information Security Management System, and so on.

With this collaboration, DAS Certification can guarantee the quality and quality of certifications that are wider and more competitive in the global world, while maintaining the level of expertise of the academic community who will later join the training program. “This certification has also received recognition from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), and the Safety Scheme in Procurement (SSIP),” he said.

From this collaboration in the realm of international expertise certification, Herry and his team fully hope that ITS will continue to target many of the basic skills needed by its academic community, especially final year students in order to maintain their existence and level of expertise in the workplace. “In accordance with ITS’s target as a Research and Innovation University, a pioneer of innovation in Indonesia,” he concluded.
