Supporting Internationalization, ITS Hosts the 2023 UMAP Discovery Camp

Campus ITS, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is one of the universities in Indonesia that is committed to and contributes to internationalization activities. Among them is the participation of ITS as one of the hosts in an activity entitled University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) Discovery Camp 2023.

UMAP is a student exchange program that has been established in 1991, and Indonesia has officially become a full member of this program in 2019. So far, the UMAP consortium has promoted student exchange among more than 600 universities in 36 countries or regions in Asia and the Pacific Rim. This year, ITS and Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (Unissula) Semarang had the opportunity to host the 2023 UMAP program.

The UMAP Discovery Camp 2023 will be held for two weeks at the two universities. During the week, the participants will undergo activities at ITS, and the following week they will move to Unissula. “During these two weeks, the activities of UMAP participants will not only include studying in class but also various other activities outside of class,” said Vice Chancellor IV for Innovation, Cooperation, Alumni, and International Relations ITS Bambang Pramudjati ST MSc Eng PhD in his remarks at the opening of the UMAP Discovery Camp 2023 at the ITS Rectorate Building, Monday (6/2).

Details of the activities of the UMAP participants for one week at ITS were explained by the Head of the UMAP Discovery Camp 2023 Committee, Vidian Ade Mauludi SIP. He explained various activities, which consisted of learning in class, visitation, watching traditional dances, visiting schools, and playing traditional Indonesian sports.

“In addition, these foreign students were invited to get to know more about ITS and the city of Surabaya,” he continued. The introduction was performed through various activities, including the introduction of ITS, the campus tour, which was scheduled for February 6, and a tour around the city for February 8.
