ITS Campus, ITS News – The Robotics Team of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) made another proud achievement at the 2023 Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) which was held by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas). In this prestigious event which was held online, the ITS Robotics Team successfully dominated the competition at KRI 2023 Region II which ended last Saturday (3/6).

The ITS team won six awards at once in seven robot categories which were contested for three days. The seven competition categories include the Indonesian ABU Robot Contest (KRAI), the Indonesian SAR Robot Contest (KRSRI), the Indonesian Dance Art Robot Contest (KRSTI), the Indonesian Wheeled Football Robot Contest (KRSBI), the Indonesian Humanoid Football Robot Contest (KRSBI), the Indonesian Football Robot Contest (KRSBI). Indonesian Underwater Robot (KRBAI), and Indonesian Thematic Robot Contest (KRTMI).

The six awards won by the ITS robotics team included 1st place in KRSBI Humanoid by the Ichiro team, 1st place in KRSTI by the Vi-Rose team, 1st place in KRBAI by the Banyubramanta team, and 1st place in KRAI by the Risen team. Then followed by the Rival team who won 2nd place in KRTMI and 2nd place in Wheeled KRSBI by the Iris team.

The ITS Robotics Team Coordinator as well as ITS Ichiro team coach Muhtadin ST MT said that the ITS team had prepared robots three months before. The ITS Robotics Team itself has gone through many competition processes starting from proposal selection, and evaluation of assessments and reports, followed by online visits by the jury before carrying out the competition.

Furthermore, Muhtadin added that the biggest challenge for the ITS Robotics team during the competition was related to the evaluation of various obstacles in the previous year which had to be executed this year. Each team experienced different obstacles, especially the development of robots in the KRAI category, where there was an innovation in the form of a ring that the robot had to throw at the target of a pole.

“So we carried out various variations of experiments to find the right method,” said the lecturer at the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC) ITS.

With the success achieved at KRI Region II 2023, according to Muhtadin, the ITS Robotics Team has the right to compete in the national level KRI 2023 event which will be held offline at the University of Semarang (USM) on June 21-26 2023.

Continuing to the national event, Muhtadin emphasized that the ITS Robotics Team will try to improve the robot’s performance based on the evaluation results from KRI Region II. “To maximize the time available, we are trying to simulate a race by using some of our robots as opponents,” he explained.

Finally, Muhtadin hopes that the ITS robot team can optimize the robot optimally. In addition, he is also very grateful for the support from ITS academics and students, both materially and prayerfully so that the ITS Robotics team can prepare robots properly and return to get the best achievements at KRI at the national level.

“Hopefully we can defend the KRI General Champion at the National level six times in a row this year,” he said hopefully. (ITS Public Relation)
