ITS Campus, ITS News — The dedication of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) to the development of Indonesia, especially to the transformation of transportation, cannot be questioned. Hence, ITS received an award from the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenhub RI) at Hub Space x KAI Expo 2023 event in Jakarta, on Friday (29/9).
The Rector of ITS, Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng, said that this award was given directly by the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation to ITS for supporting the development of transportation system. Developments created by ITS include a transportation system to reduce the spread of COVID-19 virus, to a transportation system in the future. “The idea we are developing is in the form of port mapping and the direction of passenger movement as well as logistics distribution routes,” he explained.
Apart from sea transportation, The Rector revealed that ITS also develops human resources (HR) and develops connectivity through a double-degree master’s program. Besides supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, this program will provide facilities for students to obtain two diplomas, these are a diploma from ITS and an overseas partner campus when they graduate.

The professor from <a href="https://www.its.ac.id/telektro/"Electrical Engineering Department emphasized that ITS is always ready to contribute significantly to the development of public transportation in Indonesia. One of the collaborations that received another award was with PT INKA. “Namely, the Integrated Rail Link (LRT) construction project connecting Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi (Jabodebek),” The Rector said.
In order to create a better public transportation, ITS also prioritizes innovation in developing electric-based vehicles. With various superior projects and products, such as Gesits and Bangkits Cendrawasih, this institution makes a significant contribution to the efforts of reducing environmental impacts and promoting the use of environmentally friendly vehicles in Indonesia.

ITS’s enthusiasm and seriousness make it continue to play an active role in improving the national transportation system. “This trust and optimism reflects a firm commitment to the efforts of encouraging the nation’s progress through innovation in the transportation sector,” The Rector said so.
With his various contributions to renew the transportation sector in Indonesia, the man who is originally from Sidoarjo hopes that ITS will continue to uphold its dedication to the development of transportation technology in the future. “I would also like to thank the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation for the award given to ITS for its continuous contribution,” he concluded.
