ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to strive to advance infrastructure development and establish international cooperation. One of them is by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with representatives of the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC) from China in the Senate Meeting Room of the ITS Rectorate Building, on Thursday (16/11).

Signed directly by the ITS Chancellor Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng, this MoU aims to increase student mobility between ITS and other members of the BRAUIC tertiary consortium in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, and urban planning. This mobility includes student exchanges, internship programs, and research. “We (ITS, ed) are happy to open the door for further collaboration,” he emphasized.

Apart from that, this MoU is expected to strengthen relations between other BRAUIC member universities by holding student exchanges, project collaboration, or joint research. The first university from Indonesia to become a member of BRAUIC was ITS, followed by Tarumanegara University, Udayana University, and Sebelas Maret University (UNS).

The collaboration facilitated by BRAUIC is not only limited to between universities but also with various international companies. Collaboration with these companies allows students to work on projects and research to gain direct experience working in industry.

Together with 74 member universities from more than 20 countries including Indonesia, BRAUIC has launched several research programs in 2023. “This research will focus on three aspects, namely restoration and increasing environmental resilience, optimizing the physical environment and using low-carbon energy, as well as intelligent monitoring and safe operation,” explained BRAUIC General Chair Prof Zhang Dayu.

There are several other flagship events in 2023 in the form of summer schools, student exchanges, and international competitions. One of ITS’s latest contributions to this is the ITS-KONE-BRAUIC 2023 Global Project-Based Learning (GPBL) competition held by ITS in collaboration with KONE, a company from Finland that specializes in making escalators and lifts.

In 2024, BRAUIC with ITS support is committed to launching various activities and other programs to develop the quality of human resources to make them more advanced. “We are committed to promoting quality development among BRAUIC members,” said Zhang Dayu.

In closing, ITS Global Partnership Director Dr. Maria Anityasari ST MEng PhD touched on BRAUIC’s potential to collaborate in the development of the National Capital City (IKN). “We invite foreign lecturers and students to hold joint projects,” he said. (ITS Public Relations)
