ITS Campus, ITS News — The energy-efficient vehicle research team of Institute Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to spread its wings in the national and international arena. One of them is the ITS Nogogeni team which launched its newest cars, Nogogeni VII and Nogogeni IX Evo, with maximum vehicle efficiency. The cars that will compete in the 2024 Energy-Efficient Car Contest (KMHE) were officially launched at the ITS Research Center Building, Friday (27/9).
Representing the ITS Chancellor, ITS Vice Chancellor I for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD expressed her appreciation for the hard work and innovation produced by these ITS students. “The innovation of these two energy-efficient cars, Nogogeni ITS, is expected to win first place at KMHE 2024,” said the professor of the ITS Chemistry Department encouragingly.
Also present at the event, Head of Sports Division of the Culture, Youth and Sports and Tourism Office of Surabaya City Eringgo Perkasa SE MM said that the government will continue to support one of ITS’s proud energy-efficient car teams in its contribution to the national-scale event. “We are also happy with this team, students can have strong teamwork skills,” he said.
Meanwhile, General Manager of the ITS Nogogeni Team, Amirul Annas, explained that the Nogogeni VII and Nogogeni IX Evo cars that will compete in the urban electric motorbike and urban ethanol categories have advantages in increasing vehicle efficiency compared to the previous generation. The increase in efficiency lies in the fuel, namely the Nogogeni VII which uses ethanol fuel is able to achieve an efficiency of 375 km/L and the Nogogeni IX Evo is 200 km/kWh.
The student from the Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering added that the car with the Ackerman Steering type steering wheel optimizes the renewal of the body and drive system. The car body that uses carbon fiber material is designed with a shape resembling a water droplet to support the aerodynamics of the car. “This aerodynamics functions to maintain the balance of the car when driving in the arena later,” he explained.
In addition to supporting aerodynamics, the car that uses a Mio 125 cc type motor and 1,000 watt BLDC is designed with a smaller weight to maximize the car’s performance when competing. “Nogogeni VII weighs 90 kilograms, while the electric-powered Nogogeni IX Evo weighs less, namely 78 kilograms,” said Annas.
On the same occasion, the supervisor of the ITS Nogogeni Team, Dedy Zulhidayat Noor ST MT PhD, was optimistic that the two cars with dimensions of 2.6 mm in length, 1.2 mm in width and 1 mm in height would be able to bring home the highest champion at the 2024 KMHE event which will be held on 5-10 October 2024 at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit, Ancol, Jakarta. “Hopefully ITS Nogogeni can retain the first place title this year,” he said hopefully.
