ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is increasingly serious in encouraging the commercialization of its research results. This commitment was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Inventors Association (AII) at the ITS Rectorate Building, Tuesday (3/12).
AII General Chairperson Prof (R) Ir Didiek Hadjar Goenadi MSc PhD INV conveyed its role as a bridge connecting research and development centers with industry. In this case, ITS as a university has produced various research and technologies that can be commercialized to industry or investors. “We are here to help evaluate which technologies have commercial value,” he explained.
Furthermore, Didiek explained that in practice, AII will conduct a selection from various research results and inventions owned by ITS. In the selection, one thing that needs to be considered is the Level of Technology Readiness of a research or invention which must be higher than the standards held by AII. “So don’t just look at the benefits aspect, but the application aspect in industry also needs to be considered,” he reminded. Not only that, AII as an inventor also helps with the legal administration process and promotes research results that will be commercialized to various industries that are in accordance with their sectors. “We help to find industrial partners and we oversee the legal processes until a commercial agreement is reached,” he added.
