ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues demonstrating its commitment to strengthening collaboration in research and innovation. This time, ITS made it into the Top 7 Collaborators of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) by producing 309 scientific publications for joint publications in 2021-2024. The award certificate was directly given by BRIN to ITS researchers at the ITS Research Center Building on Monday (9/12).

Along with this achievement, three ITS Lecturers were also honored as Top Co-Authors ITS with BRIN 2024 for their publications. Among them are Prof Dr Didik Prasetyoko MSc, with 26 publications; Prof Dr Ir Prabowo MEng, with 27 publications; and Dr Dendy Satrio SST, with 14 publications. In addition, BRIN also awarded Dr Holilah as BRIN’s Top Co-Author, who has produced 23 publications with ITS.

In his remarks, BRIN Head Laksana Tri Handoko expressed his appreciation for ITS’s consistently significant contribution to national research and innovation. According to him, this achievement should be a source of pride because ITS has proven its capacity not only as a higher education institution but also as a strategic partner in the development of science and technology relevant to society’s needs.

The man familiarly called Handoko also stated that the collaboration between ITS and BRIN over the past four years has dominated two main fields: engineering and environmental science. He emphasized that research conducted by ITS researchers has made a significant contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the 7th goal, Clean and Affordable Energy.

To support academic research, BRIN will act as a funding agency to facilitate the provision of necessary resources. Researchers from various universities can use BRIN’s tools and data to support research and innovation activities. “BRIN is the big umbrella of national research in supporting research on each campus,” he explained.

Also proud of the achievements in the field of research and technology, ITS Rector Prof Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD emphasized that ITS’s role is not only limited to producing quality graduates who are ready to compete in the world of work but also includes a significant contribution to the production of various innovative products. This, according to the man who is familiarly called BP, is in line with ITS’s mission to continue to be a pioneer in the development of relevant science and technology.

However, he also acknowledges that downstream relevant innovations cannot be separated from challenges that require sustainable strategies. For this reason, ITS continues to strengthen its commitment to ensure that every innovation produced can benefit the wider community. “The innovation ecosystem has been well established, and our task going forward is to ensure its sustainability so that it can continue to have a positive impact,” BP said.

The ITS Department of Mechanical Engineering professor mentioned that sustainability is achieved through cooperation between the two parties. Namely, ITS is an intellectual home for 81 BRIN researchers pursuing postgraduate education in 15 ITS departments. In addition, the partnership between ITS and BRIN has also been strengthened through the Research Collaboration Center (PKR) in various fields, such as hydrodynamics and transportation technology.

The recipient of the ITS Outstanding Department Head award in 2014 hopes that the collaboration between ITS and BRIN can continue to produce innovative works and expand benefits to society. “Through various research and community empowerment programs, we strive to have a more tangible and sustainable impact on the nation’s progress,” he concluded with optimism.

On this occasion, a talk show and discussion forum were also organized by experts from BRIN and ITS. This discussion focused on the Indonesian Researcher Excellence Collaboration Program, which aims to encourage superior research synergies at the national level. In addition, the BRIN delegation was invited to tour and watch various innovative products by ITS Civitas on display at the ITS Research and Technology Innovation Gallery (GRIT).
