ITS Campus, ITS News – Located at JW Marriot Ballroom B Surabaya, Computer Engineering Department of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya held a Joint Conference entitled The International Conference on Computer Engineering, Network and Intelligent Multimedia (CENIM) and The 11th AUN / SEED-Net Regional Conference on Computer and Information Engineering (RCCIE). The conference held for two days since Monday (26/11), and attended by participants from various countries.
The Chairperson of the Activity, Dr. I Ketut Eddy Purnama ST MT explained that this activity was the first international conference held by the ITS Computer Engineering Department. He admitted, the Computer Engineering Department had indeed planning to hold an international conference which was later named CENIM. “The aim is for researchers to have a place to share knowledge for the development of computer engineering and its application,” he said.
Ketut explained, RCCIE is the annual international conference initiated by the ASEAN University Network / Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN / SEED-Net).
This organizations that are engaged in developing human resources at various universities in Southeast Asia appointed ITS as the organizer of the conference this year. “We made a joint conference consisting of CENIM and RCCIE,” he said.
With the theme Sharpening the Contribution of Computer Engineering and Telematics in Smart City to Improve the Quality of Human Life, this conference has received 147 scientific journals from nine countries and passed 83 journals from six countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and India. While RCCIE has selected 61 journals which on average come from member countries of AUN / SEEd-Net and aborted 23 journals among them.
Quoting the remarks of the ITS Rector, Prof. Ir Joni Hermana MScES PhD, Ketut asserted that the world was facing the 4.0 industrial revolution. “We raise the theme of smart cities, taking into account the importance of these points in this fourth industrial revolution,” said the Head of ITS Computer Engineering Department.
In addition, Ketut said, ITS has a target to publish at least 2000 scientific journals indexed by Scopus or the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE). In order to support this target, he explained, ITS directly took IEEE representatives to attend this conference.
Five key speakers in each of the relevant fields also present at this conference. The five speakers included Prof. Teruo Higashino from Osaka University Japan, Prof. Takamichi Nakamoto from the Tokyo Institute of Technology Japan, Prof. Laszlo T Koczy from Széchenyi István from University Hungary, Prof. Dr. Kazuhiko Hamamoto from Tokai University Japan, and Prof. Masahiro Inoue PhD PMP PEJp from Shibaura Institute of Technology Japan.
