Simulations conducted by Mechanics who will be assigned to ETU 2019

ITS Campus, ITS News – Approaching the 2019 Engine Tune Up (ETU) on Saturday (9/2), the Machine Student Workshop Institution, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (LBMM-ITS) has made various preparations. The activity in the form of a free motorized vehicle service planned to be held at the Ole-Ole Ngagel Field is open to all Surabaya people.

ETU itself is a routine LBMM-ITS activity held every two years. The mechanics in this activity are ITS Mechanical Engineering students of class 2015, 2016, and 2017 who are members of ITS LBMM. “It is expected that with the presence of ETU 2019, people can enjoy healthier, safer, and more economical services from their vehicles because we do not charge a penny,” said Hilman Qasthari, coordinator of the 2019 ETU event.

Besides being intended to implement one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service, this activity is also one way to introduce ITS Mechanical Engineering and LBMM ITS  to the people of Surabaya and its surroundings. “As one of the student organizations engaged in the automotive sector, ITS LBMM wants to devote the knowledge that has so far been recruited by its members to the wider community,” said this 2017 student.

Hilman explained, people who wish to attend ETU 2019 can simply come to Ole-Ole Ngagel Field by bringing their vehicle and register themselves in place. Serviceable vehicles are Honda-branded standard engines with a maximum capacity of 150 cc motorcycles produced in 2013 and above,  and Toyota-branded cars produced in 2003 and above with standard engines.

The documents that need to be prepared for this event are ID Card/Driving License and Vehicle Number Certificate. After registering, registered vehicles will be serviced without charge. In addition to free light services, ETU also provides free oil and spark plugs for motorbikes, as well as free emissions testing for cars.

In addition to free motorized vehicle service, this year’s ETU also enlivened with various side events such as Safety Riding, Test Drive, Fun Games, and various food stands and sponsoring companies. “This side event is intended as a distraction for the participants while waiting for the vehicle to be repaired,” explained this member of the ITS LBMM.

One side event, Safety Riding activities, contains counseling about driving procedures that are good, right, and safe. Safety Riding will be presented directly by instructors from the Surabaya City Police Station and the Surabaya City Transportation Service. In addition to verbal delivery, this counseling is also strengthened by doing the direct practice.

The test drive side event intended for participants who want to try out the latest Toyota cars. “There are also fun games with prizes, as well as food stands and sponsoring companies that can be visited by each participant,” Hilman concluded. (yus/qi)
