ITS Campus, ITS News – For 14 years, the Indonesian Electrical Engineering Higher Education Forum (FORTEI) still has limited space for movement. Aiming to expand the flexibility of its role, FORTEI officials agreed to submit a legal entity certificate which was officially signed in the C-216 Room of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Wednesday (29/5).
As a container for Electrical Engineering Study Programs throughout Indonesia, FORTEI actually has an important potential and role in its part in developing Indonesia. As an association of specialists in the field of electro, FORTEI has the potential to occupy an important position in Indonesia’s electrical repairs. Because, if the experts synergize in a problem, the maximum and optimal results will be obtained more easily.
Regarding efforts to expand the role of FORTEI, the Chair of FORTEI Sarjiya ST MT PhD explained that as a national scale association, FORTEI must have an equal role. “But in reality, FORTEI has still experienced obstacles in its movements,” he said.
The main reason for this obstacle, according to Sarjiya, is the absence of legal status owned by FORTEI, so that the available space is also very limited. “With a legal entity, it is hoped that FORTEI can easily cooperate with various parties and there are no legal obstacles anymore,” he said.
In line with that, the ITS Chancellor Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng who is also the former Chair of FORTEI said that as a reference to solve electro problems in Indonesia, FORTEI should have a loud voice that can be heard by many parties. But according to him, there are still small problems that become obstacles.
One of them, said the Chancellor, who was familiarly called Ashari, was the dimming of the Electrical Engineering study program branding, especially on private campuses. “Not only big problems, small problems like this must also be considered by FORTEI,” said the bespectacled man, reminding.
As a solution, continued Ashari, he proposed making icons representing Electrical Engineering study programs at various events, both local and international. By giving an example of Sapuangin’s energy-efficient car, Ashari appealed to the campuses which are members of FORTEI to try hard to realize this effort in harmony. “The base is indeed a robot, but it’s an old icon, try looking for new models so that Electrical Engineering is seen as high in society,” he added.
With the agreement of FORTEI’s steps in the future, FORTEI’s notarial deed was finally officially signed with Yusuf Jauhari as a notary. In accordance with the applicable rules, there are two positions that will be in FORTEI later, namely the Supervisory Board and the Management Board.
“If you look at the background and purpose, FORTEI can be categorized as an association, not a foundation or community organization, because FORTEI is a forum for experts with the same profession,” he explained.
As for the management structure, the Chair of the Supervisory Board was occupied by Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng, followed by Ir Tumiran MEng from UGM and Dr. Wahyudi ST MT from Undip as members. Whereas in the position of the Management Board, Chair I was occupied by Sarjiya ST MT PhD from UGM, followed by Ir Hadi Suyono ST MT PhD from UB as Chair II and Dr. Ir Aries Subiantoro MSEE from UI as chairman III. The rest will be the member under the position of the Management Board. (mad/herdiana/ITS PR)
