ITS Campus, ITS News – As a campus that has the vision to become a World Class University (WCU), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to demonstrate its capabilities globally. This is shown by increasing its position in the world’s university ranking, and this time, ITS managed to occupy the 198th position in the 2020 Asia Regional Rankings.

Based on the data released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings in collaboration with the University of Auckland in New Zealand, at the end of November, the ITS position rose 31 levels compared with to 2019 which was still in the 229th position. This makes ITS into the ranks of the universities with a percentage of the best 36 percent in Asia.

The QS World University Rankings is one of the three most famous annual publications that rank universities in the world and is under the institution of Quacquarelli Symonds Limited, an institution specializing in education from the UK.

This achievement was supported by several indicators that caused the rating to increase. The highest indicator is held by the Student Exchange Index, where ITS is in the 15th position in Asia and followed by the International Faculty Index that runs in the 54th position.

ITS Director of Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. Eng Kriyo Sambodho ST MEng

Responding to the matter, ITS Director of Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. Eng Kriyo Sambodho ST MEng stated, ITS will be more aggressive in strengthening the internationalization program. “ITS is strengthening the function of the unit responsible for the world ranking issues,” said the lecturer who is familiarly called Dodot.

Furthermore, Dodot explained some ITS strategies in strengthening the function of the team responsible for WCU. Based on his statement, ITS had previously formed the WCU team under the directorate he led when Prof. Ir. Joni Hermana MScES Ph.D. still served as rector.

Meanwhile, under the policy of the current ITS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng, the WCU’s management will be in charge by the Head of the World Class University Sub Directorate under the Directorate of ITS Global Engagement. “This directorate will be directly responsible to the ITS Rector,” said Dodot.

With this policy, the ITS WCU Ad Hoc team leader was optimistic that the expansion and strengthening of the WCU units could be a way to boost ITS world rankings to a higher level.

Besides, another agenda that ITS has sought before the current rector’s leadership is to strengthen the position of the International Office (IO) by turning it into the Directorate of International Relations. “Other internationalization efforts such as mobilization of staff, lecturers, and students abroad and domestically, visits by professors, guest lectures, joint research, joint publications, and international seminars are also carried out,” he concluded.
