ITS Campus, ITS News – the rapid development of the world’s technology made the Shahcfulloh Syahfrizal, a student of the Department of Electrical Engineering Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember(ITS), successfully designed the radar concept of Full Phased MIMO (FPMIMO) In his dissertation. One of its applicability is for the automatic vehicle control radar that has been delivered at the doctoral open session promotion in the Departement of Electrical engineering ITS courtroom, last week.

Described by Syahfrizal, FPMIMO radar itself is a combination of Phased Array (PA) radar and MIMO radar. So the advantages of these two radars can be achieved. “Some of these include maximum reach, detected target counts, ambiguity functions, and so on,” he explained.

According to Syahfrizal, many antenna radars also have high flexibility on various target conditions. So it can be applied as a bird radar or a vehicle radar that can fulfill certain objectives. The effect of using realistic elements such as the Cos-type antenna element (θ).

The man who was born in Kediri also mentioned, the role of the radar concept design is also very important in the vehicle control system. When the concept of the radar was applied to the vehicle, information about the distance and speed of the vehicle in the vicinity can be known. “This radar concept could also avoid accidents on vehicles,” said this ITS’s first doctor for radar.

Shahfrizal Tahcfulloh congratulated after graduation as a doctor with a very satisfactory predicate

Further Syahfrizal, every vehicle will also be able to detect an empty parking lot with the radar. In line with electric vehicle research that is being developed by ITS, he hopes he can cooperate in the future.

Because it is still a concept, the student guidance of Prof. Ir. Gamantyo Hendrantoro MEng Ph.D. is also admitted, there is still a lot of development to be done in this research. “Especially if the concept of this radar began to be realized on its hardware,” said the lecturer of the Borneo Tarakan University.

Therefore, Syahfrizal is very open if some scientists or students want to do research together about this radar. He mentioned that the number of researchers or experts in the field of the radar in Indonesia is still very rare. So hope, this cooperation can also improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia, one of them in the technology of radar.(sof/rev/ITS Public Relations)
