ITS Campus, ITS News – The fact that thousands of people in many countries have contracted with  Covid-19 virus  or better known as Corona virus, even in Indonesia. To further anticipate the spread of the virus, the ceremony of the 121st Graduate of ITS was finally for the first time to be implemented without the procession of handshake with the Rector.

In the graduation ceremony that took place in the Graha Sepuluh November ITS for two days, starting Saturday (14/3), it was all the graduates’ only chance to receive a diploma and directly take pictures with the rector of the Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng. ITS does not want to play with the threat of Corona virus, graduates also obliged to use hand sanitizer that has been provided by the Committee before going up to the stage of acceptance of the diploma.

The Secretary of ITS Institute Dr. Suhartono SSi of MSc is reasoned, if it is an implementation of the directive of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI) to avoid direct contact among fellow persons, as well as shaking hands with each other. “ITS very careful in addressing the spread of this Corona virus, especially when it has been detected in the territory of Indonesia,” he said encountered in the procession of graduation.

In addition to the graduates, all parents are also required to use a hand sanitizer before entering the ceremony. ITS also has given encouragement to all the graduates and parents if any of them are sick, fever, flu, cough, or otherwise better not attending such activities.

Before the procession, ITS gave direction and a healthy life campaign by displaying the correct hand washing video to avoid all kinds of viruses, germs, and bacteria. With these efforts, it is hoped that all the graduates and invitations free from the threat of the Corona virus.

ITS Department of Statistics Lecturers also stated, ITS has managed to produce itself around 1,300 hand sanitizer which is distributed for free to all the graduates. Hand sanitizer made to the hard work of ITS Smart Eco Campus team, which works with the Department of Chemistry, Department of Environmental Engineering, and ITS Department of Systems and Industrial engineering.

The ingredients selected to produce hand sanitizer include 80 percent ethanol, 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, glycerol, aquades, mint leaves, and essential oils. The selected ingredient and formula have been in accordance with the recipes of the World Health Organization or the World Health Organization (WHO), so the quality is assured guaranteed.

Soehartono reaffirmed if such measures constitute evidence if ITS serious in addressing the impact of the current Corona virus. Hopefully, all ITS elements can participate in preventing the development of the Corona virus with a variety of small things. “Don’t be deceived by the unusable information,” he said reminded.

At the 121st graduation this time, a total of 1,279 students from the diploma, undergraduate, Masters, and doctoral school followed the graduation procession. Of these, 245 students successfully graduated with a fondproof in this odd semester graduation.

The best doctorate was achieved by Muhammad Al Muttaqii from the Study Program (Prodi) Doctor of Chemical Engineering with GPA 4 and received the predicate. Furthermore, the best Magister graduates were obtained by Endah Setyowati from Magister Program statistics with IPK 4 and received the predicate of the title. The best graduate from the undergraduate program was achieved by Natasha Valentina Santoso of Informatics Engineering, with GPA of 3.95 and received the title of the cumlaude.
