ITS Campus, ITS News – The tight bond of the alumni of Faculty of Marine Technology (MARTECH), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), cannot be doubted. This time, the alumni of MARTECH Faculty conducted a “Cangkrukan” and MARTECH Alumni Awards. The event was not simply for a place to meet and recall, but it also served as a medium of appreciation for MARTECH graduates. This activity was carried out in conjunction with the inauguration of the SEA building of the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering on Friday (13/3).

The event, which was attended by alumni of various generations, took place with so much warmth and family bonding. The presence of a famous comedian, Dodit Mulyanto, in the middle of the event also contributed to the harmonious atmosphere that existed. Many of his jokes and entertainment acts frequently caused booming laughter from the attendants.

The Dean of MARTECH, Dr Eng Trika Pitana ST MSc, revealed that with the continuously increasing number of students of various departments in this faculty, the effort in strengthening the family bond should also be exerted. Started from only one batch of 50 students, MARTECH now has up to around 1900 active students. “This gave us more responsibility to look after each other and embrace them all,” he said in his opening speech.

In agreement with that statement, the Head of the MARTECH Faculty ITS Alumni Association, Ir. Abdul Aziz MM, expressed that this activity was expected to be an example for FTK students who are still actively studying. “Students are expected to not develop into individualists, they need to build and maintain a close relationship between generations from the start so that communication is maintained,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, this time, there was a slight difference with the previous event held by IKA MARTECH. In order to appreciate the alumni who have contributed and have had many positive achievements in certain fields, an award procession was held according to the respective categories.

There were nine different categories of awards: Professional Excellence, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Lifetime Achievement, Social Excellence, Millennial Excellence, Founder Excellence, Lecturer Excellence, and Honorary Mention. In addition, one of the Outstanding Achievement awards was also given to the Lecturer of the Department of Marine Engineering, Prof. Ir. Soegiono.

The award was received thanks to his outstanding ideas and contributions in the maritime world both nationally and internationally. “All alumni and students are expected to be able to develop the quality of their maritime knowledge and be ready to collaborate together to improve the country,” he conveyed excitedly.

Appreciation was also delivered by Anita Puji Lestari ST, as part of the committee of IKA MARTECH ITS to the alumni who attended and continued to contribute. “We sincerely give this award to alumni who have worked hard and are expected to transmit enthusiasm to students to take part in the maritime, social, and scientific fields,” concluded this President Director of PT Adiluhung Sarana Segara Indonesia (ASSI).
