ITS Campus, ITS News – One of the government’s efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia is to always educate the public on the importance of complying to the existing protocols. In response to this, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) launched a sticker pack on social media that contains campaign messages to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The number of positive cases of Covid-19 in East Java Province is still increasing even after months of prevention. Noticing that, ITS Covid-19 Countermeasures Campaign Coordinator, Rabendra Yudistira Alamin, S.T., M.Ds., stated that one of the causes lies in the lack of education of the public who still can’t see the urgency of Covid-19 prevention.

Therefore, Bendra together with five of his students, namely Adhec Saputra, Nabila Disarifianti, Fadhlan Achmad Habib, Nadine Aulia Farah Diba, and Dandy Anugrah Cahyada, created a sticker pack containing educational messages that can be used on social media, exclusively WhatsApp. This method was implemented because the people who currently do most activities from home majorly use social media as a communication tool.

The stickers are made up of activity pictures and words that are often used by the public. The language utilized is Javanese, in accordance with what is widely used by people in East Java.

The lecturer of the Department of Visual Communication Design (DKV) reasoned that using the Javanese language would make it easier for the public to understand the meaning of the sticker. “Because so far there has been a lot of education messages using standard Indonesian,” emphasized this lecturer who is familiarly called Bendra.

The steps to obtain the said stickers is also quite easy, just download it for free by clicking on the link, http://sticker.ly/s/MU53G8. In addition, Bendra explained that WhatsApp allows other users who are given the sticker to save it in their phones by simply clicking and downloading it. Moving forward, the Campaign Team will also continue to provide education to the public through other media, such as posters, slides, videos, or others.

As long as there are many ideas and input received by the Campaign Team, Bendra and his team will continue to produce educational campaign materials to the public visually. Especially if there is new and important information or any important announcement that needs to be delivered to the general public.

With this, Bendra hopes that ITS will be able to provide education through a variety of media to the wider community with a positive impact. He hopes that the community will also be made aware of what they have to do or not to do, in order to stop the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia. (sof/ory/ITS Public Relations)
