ITS Campus, ITS News – Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) has always collaborated with partners to assist in handling Covid-19 in Indonesia. Most recent, Bank BNI helped ITS help through the donation of face Shield that BNI distributes donation to making Face Shield for ITS symbolically in ITS Rectorate Building, Thursday (18/6).

The head of the BNI Office Surabaya branch, Bagus Suhandoko, reveals that the donation given is to be used completely for the creation of the face shield by ITS. Later, the face Shield will be fully distributed for the handling needs of Covid-19 in Indonesia. “Through this donation we estimate can produce about 2,000 face shields and ready to be used by the public,” he explained.

Bagus explains that this face shield creation is needed nowadays. Considering the New Normal protocols started to be applied in some areas. Face Shield itself can play a role to avoid the transmission of the virus from the person to the very vulnerable. “We know that the number of patients up to now is still increasing, we strive to work together to reduce it,” he said.

He added that BNI chose ITS to donate the making of this face shield as it considers ITS to be one of the leading institutions in the handling of Covid-19, especially in Surabaya. ITS also expected to still strive to educate the public to be more alert to the spread of viruses. “This education is what we focus on, so choosing ITS to channel this donation,” he explained.

BNI representatives try face shield from ITS

Bagus hopes that this donation can be utilized and ITS continued to help the public through technological innovations in healthcare. The resulting Face Shield will be fully handed over to ITS distribution. “I make sure BNI will not ask for the resulting face shield. This is entirely for the public, “he said.

Meanwhile, ITS rector Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng claimed to appreciate and thank BNI for the cooperation to contribute to the community through the production of the face shield. As it is known, during this pandemic period it has produced 28 products of technological innovation in the health field that helps in handling Covid-19 in Indonesia. “One of them is this face shields that until now we have produced about 170,000 units,” he explained.

The Face shield of ITS production has been distributed to 25 provinces in Indonesia. Health facilities are certainly the main target of the dealt face shield. ITS also accepts requests from agencies requiring a face shield for the protection of ITS employees. “We have only received requests from the agency only to avoid the commercialization efforts of our face shield,” he explained.

The rector who is familiarly called Ashari also hopes through this donation ITS will be the maximum to contribute to the community in the handling of Covid-19. The Slogan ‘ sharing, collaborating, and contributing ‘ becomes ITS guideline for ITS to always be ready to be the forefront of handling Covid-19. “This spirit is also what we hope will be maintained until the case of Covid-19 in Indonesia, ” said Ashari.
