In Collaboration with Tanjung Perak Harbor Police, ITS Develops Covid-19 Monitoring Application

The meeting held in an effort to actualize Covid-19 monitoring between ITS and the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police Station in Surabaya

Kampus ITS, ITS News – The increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Surabaya requires the collaboration of diverse parties to handle it better. As conducted by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) together with the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police, who planned to collaborate to develop a Covid-19 monitoring application.

The meeting to discuss the cooperation plan was held in the Senate Meeting Room, ITS Rectorate Building on last Thursday (6/25). Led directly by the ITS Vice-Rector IV who is focused on the Field of Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni, Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., and the Tanjung Perak Surabaya Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner, Ganis Setyaningrum.

Surya Sumpeno, S.T., M.Sc., as the Person-in-Charge (PIC) of this meeting, explained that as the best institute of technology in Eastern Indonesia, ITS is trusted by the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police Station in Surabaya to provide the technological support to actualize Professional, Modern, and Trusted (Promoter). “Because we are indeed an institute of technology, ITS welcomes this idea,” he clarified.

Continuing the meeting that was previously held at the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police Station on the 5th of June, one of the programs expected to be completed in the near future is the development of a monitoring application for patients with Covid-19. Surya revealed that the usage of this application in resilient villages will provide great benefits.

With the existence of this application, field officers, and community members who are important elements in resilient villages will respond quickly and accurately to the development of the Covid-19 deployment. “Because with this application, the results of monitoring will be updated quickly, so that the certain measures can be implemented to handle the situation,” elaborated this ITS Electrical Engineering lecturer.

During the meeting, Tanjung Perak Harbor Surabaya Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner, Ganis Setyaningrum, conveyed that his party strongly supports the collaboration between ITS and the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police Station in Surabaya. “In addition to institutions, this collaboration also serves as a suggestion to strengthen the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police in Surabaya in the field of information technology,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Bambang Pramujati added that previously ITS and the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police Station Surabaya had cooperated to develop the use of a command center equipped with CCTV. “Because this is in accordance with their Promoter motto, and the fact that Tanjung Perak is also a very vital place due to it being an entry point for goods and personnel,” he informed.

This ITS Mechanical Engineering lecturer also revealed the importance of the collaboration carried out by ITS together with the Tanjung Perak Harbor Regional Police. He supports the police station’s mission to become more professional, modern, and trusted. “We (ITS, red) will always be open to community service and collaborations that seek solutions to real problems in the community. Thus, the existence of ITS can be felt by the wider community,” he emphasized.

Bambang hopes that with this collaboration, the Covid-19 case can be handled more quickly and accurately. He also said that with the current plan, digital technology can be utilized for the implementation of programs in resilient villages. “With this collaboration, I hope we can make the currently red and black areas in Surabaya green again,” he concluded.
