ITS Campus, ITS News – In order to increase competitiveness to meet people’s demands on halal products, the Halal Study Center of ITS (PKH ITS) provides its Halal QR Code and built logo for 32 Small and Medium Micro Enterprises (SMEs). The SMEs are the ones who have passed the Halal Mobilization Workshop for Cadre which has been taking place since last April.
Vice-Chairman of PKH ITS Nur Aini Rakhmawati SKom MScEng PhD said, this QR code can deliver to the website of PKH ITS if scanned by mobile phone. She thought that the awarding of the QR Code was more effective than providing a direct link.
According to this lecturer of its Information Systems Department, the QR Code given to each SME is unique. “By scanning the QR Code, the public can know that this SME is indeed the target of PKH ITS,” she said.
Meanwhile, Head of PKH ITS Setiyo Gunawan ST PhD hopes that the awarding of this QR Code can further improve the competitiveness of SMEs. This is certainly expected to have an impact on the increasing income of SMEs. “The awarding of the QR Code is also a sign that SMEs have understood all the requirements of halal supervisors and auditors,” he explained.
Because, according to Setiyo, the awarding of the QR Code is the final stage of a series of Halal Mobilization Cadre Workshops aimed at the SMEs. He explained that the activities of PKH ITS aim to equip SMEs with knowledge related to halal supervisors and auditors. Starting from the introduction of halal-haram basics to the basic sharia finance.
Setiyo pointed out the number of participants who participated in the event was 250 participants. However, only 32 people passed. According to him, this shows that PKH ITS does not mess around in assessing and validating the understanding of halal mobilization cadres. SMEs that are declared graduates are those who score above 70 on 15 quizzes during the workshop.
This lecturer of ITS Chemical Engineering Department added, there are five people in ITS who are certified as halal supervisors and auditors of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag RI). However, according to him, this number is very small compared to the number of SMEs built by PKH ITS. “Hopefully after the workshop, more and more human resources to help foster SMEs,” he said.
Setiyo hopes that by providing QR Code and halal logo, it can increase the competitiveness and sales of SMEs. Because this is one of the efforts to strengthen the economy of the people from the attack of outside products that is not having confirmed halal status.
In the future, it is expected that through this workshop more and more Muslim communities are aware of the mandatory consumption of halal products.
