ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is increasingly ready to be at the forefront and play a role in advancing the fields of engineering, social, economy, and data sources by expanding the wings of its cooperation. This is evidenced by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Perta Arun Gas or PT PAG, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina which is engaged in energy resources, Monday (26/10).
Agenda held in the Rector Building Courtroom ITS Senate was attended by the Rector Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad ITS Ashari MEng and President (President) PT PAG Arif Widodo. The MoU signing was accompanied by Vice-Rector of ITS, Prof. Dr. Ir Adi Supriyanto MT, Director of Cooperation and Business Management (DKPU) ITS Joko Tri Wahyudi ST MT Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Marine Technology Dr. Eng Trika Pitana ST MSc, Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning and Business Development PT PAG Surkani Manan, and several representatives from both parties.

Rector is familiarly called Ashari has welcomed the MoU with PT PAG. Ashari admitted that he was happy and it was an honor for ITS to be able to collaborate because PT PAG itself is one of the large companies engaged in the energy sector. “We are implementing this MoU to open a wider cooperation between Aceh (PT PAG) and Surabaya (ITS),” said Ashari.
Meanwhile, Sukarni Manan revealed, as a large company located in Aceh, PT PAG has several business continuation activities with the main activity of processing gas sourced from North Sumatra Offshore (NSO), an offshore platform 100 kilometers to the sea. The business that has been running has been going on for a long time, even since PT PAG still has the name PT Arun. “We will cooperate with ITS for the development of future businesses,” he said.
From the explanation given by Surkani, it is also known that PT PAG is the only bonded logistics center company appointed by the government to handle liquefied natural gas (LNG) commodities. Namely, a gas that is dominated by methane and ethane which is cooled to become liquid at temperatures between -150 to -200 degrees Celsius. “With the economic program of Pak Jokowi (President Joko Widodo, ed), to drive the logistics supply for imported materials, PAG will take the momentum to propose itself as a bonded logistics center,” said Surkani.

At the end of the conversation, Surkani explained that some of the objects of this cooperation were to increase the potential in technical, social, economic, and community resource development (HR) aspects. “Through cooperation with ITS, in business development at PAG we can conduct studies by ITS competencies,” he said.
In the field of education, ITS hopes that it and PT PAG can carry out joint exploration related to existing opportunities, especially in the oil and gas sector, especially with the existence of ITS independent partnerships. ITS is trying to expand its cooperation with large companies with routine evaluations every year. “There will be a kind of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for that, then it can be used for next year for the education sector,” concluded Ashari.
