ITS Campus, ITS News – Realizing the importance of the industrial sector in regional development, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has again collaborated with local governments. This time, ITS together with the Malang City Government (Pemkot) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to education, research and community service cooperation which was held virtually, Thursday (10/12).
Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD, Deputy Chancellor IV ITS explained, the cooperation between ITS and Malang City Government had actually been established before. The signing of the MoU this time was carried out in partnership to develop the Dinoyo ceramic industry center. This explained that this collaboration is a continuation of the existing cooperation in education, research, and community service.
Bambang said that ITS will continue to play an active role in these three things. According to him, in implementing this commitment, ITS has prepared itself. An example is by establishing research centers. “We have ten research centers that have collaborated in many ways, and we have also done many things together with the surrounding community,” he said.
He hopes that the signing of this MoU will establish more real cooperation in the future. In addition, Bambang also hopes that with the extension of this cooperation in teaching, research, and community service it can become a foothold for ITS and Malang City Government to carry out other collaborations in the future.
Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir H Sofyan Edi Jarwoko felt that the signing of this cooperation agreement was momentum for ITS and Malang City Government to continue to take part and work together in advancing the region and improving the welfare of the community, especially in Malang City.
He said that universities are agents of development which are very important for a region and development in the society. “The potential of human resources, adequate institutional tools, and the ability to make research and studies make higher education a strategic institution,” he explained.
Based on this potential, Malang City Government hopes that ITS can take the role and give the best contribution to the acceleration of regional development, especially in Malang City. “To industrial centers, take advantage of this collaboration and always work together to generate thoughts and ideas to accelerate the success of development in Malang City,” said Bung Edi, his nickname, closing the agenda for the signing of this MoU.
