Kampus ITS, ITS News – “Kau datang seketika, menggetarkan jiwa, sehingga ku terlena, sekejap ku merasa”. The combination of the song titled Kau Datang sung by the jazz fusion leader from Indonesian music, Krakatau Band, brought together the fans who were present virtually live in youtube at the Konser 7 Ruang of Lustrum XII ITS, Saturday (14/11) night. Packaged with a hybrid system, this charity concert is still able to present a collaborative musical arrangement that is slick and without pause.
Still, in the series of 60th Anniversary celebrations, the concert held by the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) with DSS Music also intends to raise funds for ITS students, who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Chief Executive of Lustrum XII ITS, Dr. Eng Trika Pitana ST MSc, said that the Krakatau’s Band was chosen from discussions with DSS Music, which often holds 7 Room Concerts during this pandemic. “Krakatau appears on the recommendation because many are waiting for its presence,” he said.
This was confirmed by the vocalist of the Krakatau Band, Trie Utami, after starting the performance with the song Kemelut. Iie, the petite singer’s nickname, said that this concert brought the Krakatau personnel back together after eight months of not seeing them. “This experience is also something new, for the first time Krakatau has appeared separately (from several places, ed). We hope that the normal period will return,” she said when greeting the live Youtube audience.
Bringin nostalgic happines, the audience toned up the live chat column by singing the song through written messages. After completing the first song, Iie continued with the song Imaji. These two songs are part of Krakatau’s first album was released in 1986. Iie said that at that time, Krakatau often appeared on various campuses and she believed that Krakatau was part of the life journey of his fans to this day.
In the third song, Krakatau began to present a series of new songs on the album Chapter Two (2018). Iie said that the song on the album is dedicated to the environment. Starting from the song, “Compound” emphasizes that nature supplies the needs of the chain of life so that humans and nature always combine. “Where birds can perch, where is the clean air, where the green of the forest is”, the equivalent of these lyrics is depicted with motion graphics that adorn the visuals of the concert.
Then, Iie continued with the song “Inilah Saatnya”, which tells the story of how we should be aware of the environment. No need to look far across, as simple as paying attention to the environment around us first. Not waiting for tomorrow or later, but this time we have to go back to protect the earth and make it smile again.
As is his habit when acting on stage, Iie often makes chirps that invite laughter from the audience. When the host read the greetings conveyed by the audience via live chat, Iie also said greetings on his throat to keep his performance maximally until the end of the performance. Also, Iie delivered chatter that made fun of his colleagues.
Then, Krakatau continued his performance with the song Ironic. At the beginning of this song, Iie asked the audience to guess the title of the song. The audience guessed correctly, which indicates that many still remember their songs. Next, Iie continued with the song Cermin Hati. Followed by Prthvi Mata, a song by Indra Lesmana, is dominated by strains of instruments with extraordinary composition, an offering for the motherland.
After the seventh song was delivered, Iie continued with the song Terumbu Menangis. The song tells about the potential of coral reefs in the Indonesian oceans are increasingly being threatened, even though they have a massive effect on oxygen levels on earth. “This problem is a big issue for the whole world and will continue if we do not pay serious attention to the environment”, said Iie.
Listening to a series of environmental-themed songs, Anggra Ayu Rucitra ST MMT, as the host who is also the Head of ITS Public Communication Unit (UKP), commented that the theme was raised by Krakatau is in line with the ITS Smart Eco Campus program. Iie responded to this comment, was looking forward to Krakatau’s collaboration with ITS in the future.
The performance of the six personnel was followed by drum beats from Gilang Ramadhan and bass strings from Pra Budi Dharma started Iie singing the song La Samba Primadona. Colored with the strains of the keyboard they played, Indra Lesmana and Dwiki Dharmawan also sang along to fill the song followed by a drum solo game featuring Gilang’s expertise.
Next, one of the long-awaited songs, Kau Datang, finally got a turn to be performed. Donny Suhendra’s melodious playing guitar filled the song’s martyrdom. Besides, Dr. Ing Ir Bambang Soemardiono and Sri Fatmawati SSi MSc Ph.D. from ITS Music Community, who had a solo performance at the beginning of the event, also sang together in this song.
The night getting late did not dampen the enthusiasm of the more than 1,500 spectators who attended virtually. Towards the closing of the concert offerings, Krakatau presented the Gemilang song and made the performers, were present in several places also dance together. The night’s charming offering from the Krakatau Band ended with the melodious strains of the song Around Us.
Officially closing their performance, Iie thanked and wished ITS a happy birthday for its 60th Anniversary. Donny Hardono, the owner of DSS Music, said that the donations that came to the concert reached more than Rp. 130 million. The audience also wrote down their satisfaction at the performance with high musicality that was very entertaining and of high quality. (tri/far/ITS Public Relations)
