The ITS ranking graph continues to increase every year and ITS’ achievement scores for each 2021 QS AUR assessment indicator.

Kampus ITS, ITS News – Towards a world-class university, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has increased its prestige in the international arena. In the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings (QS AUR) 2021, which was released on Wednesday (11/25), ITS successfully increased its ranking.

Announced virtually in conjunction with the QS APPLE Conference, the QS AUR 2021 ranking, which presented 650 universities in Asia, stated that ITS managed to sit in 164th place.

Senior Manager for World Class University ITS, Rulli Pratiwi Setiawan ST MSc Ph.D., stated that 11 indicators are the main aspects of this year’s QS AUR. These indicators are namely academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, international research network, citations per paper, papers per faculty, staff with a Ph.D., proportion of international faculty, the balance of international students, the ratio of inbound exchange students, and proportion of outbound exchange students.

Rulli continued, each indicator has a different rating weight. Academic reputation indicators, for example, have the largest percentage at 30 percent. “The smallest percentage is the proportion of international faculty, the proportion of international students, the proportion of inbound exchange students, and the proportion of outbound exchange students of 2.5 percent,” added Rulli.

With a maximum value of 100 for each indicator, ITS itself managed to get a score of 23.76 on academic reputation, 42.64 on employer reputation, 44.07 on faculty-student, and 92.67 on international faculty.

ITS also scored 20.33 on the international students’ indicator, 1 on faculty staff with Ph.D. titles, 11.52 on papers per faculty, 1.17 on citations per paper, and 100 on the outbound exchange indicator. “The values of these indicators are calculated and averaged according to the percentage of each indicator. The result shows that ITS managed to achieve an overall value of 30.02,” she explained.

Responding to this achievement, Rulli admitted that she was happy with what ITS had obtained. The reason is, ITS managed to score high scores on several indicators. “Even on the Outbound Exchange Student indicator, ITS managed to achieve a maximum score of 100,” said this Urban and Regional Planning (PWK) lecturer proudly.

But on the other hand, continued Rulli, there is still a lot of homework that needs to be addressed. ITS still has low scores for several categories, including Academic Reputation, Citations per Paper, and Staff with a Ph.D. “The Citations per Paper indicator for universities in Indonesia is quite low. Unfortunately, ITS value itself is still decreasing from year to year,” admitted this woman from Surabaya.

For Rulli, one of the challenges ITS must face to become a world-class university is to continue to increase quality publications that have an impact. “It’s not just the number of publications, but how these publications can also increase citation,” she said.

To support this, Rulli emphasized that cooperation from various parties is needed. The Directorate for Global Partnership (DKG) and the Directorate for Research and Community Service (DRPM) and other directorates, departments, and support from the lecturers themselves.

Peringkat ITS dalam QS AUR terus meningkat tiap tahunnya, tahun ini ITS berada di peringkat 164

ITS ranking in QS AUR continues to increase every year; this year ITS is ranked 164th.

Hoping to continue maintaining and improving ITS achievements, this woman, who is also an ITS alumnus, said that building research networks at the international level needs to be improved.

Responding to these challenges, Rulli argues that doing research into culture and publication in reputable international journals is also a stepping stone for ITS to move forward. “For that, we need to continue to improve and move consistently,” she concluded. (rys/ory/ITS Public Relations)
