Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Rectorate Building

ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) through the ITS Covid-19 Preparedness Technical Unit (Satgas) recently banned campus entry and stopped all activities in the campus environment (lockdown) during the period December 24, 2020, to January 10, 2021. This was done considering that the Covid-19 pandemic in the community towards the end of 2020 shows an increasing number, including among ITS academicians.

On the other hand, carrying out the lockdown caused rumors among the public who wondered how many cases were in ITS to carry out the lockdown. Given the ITS Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, M.Eng, on December 25, 2020, also tested positive for Covid-19. This adds that news among the public is increasingly biased, and hoax news spreads throughout the community.

It was responding to this, the Chairman of the ITS Covid-19 Task Force Adjie Pamungkas, ST. M.Dev.Plg Ph.D. took the initiative to release official data from the ITS Covid-19 Task Force regarding the Covid-19 case at ITS.

Adjie said the data on active covid cases in ITS as of December 26, 2020, were 18 people. These cases are divided into several classifications. There were 11 positive cases handled by independent isolation, with details of six lecturers, one student, and four education staff (tendik).

The positive classification with inpatient action consists of seven people, with details of four lecturers, two students, and one student.

Adjie continued, for cases of death due to Covid-19 at ITS since the beginning of the pandemic until today, there are five people. “The details of the five people are three lecturers, one student, and one educational staff,” he said.

He explained that this was the updated data held by the ITS Covid-19 Task Force and determined why the ITS campus was recommended for lockdown. This data has increased at the end of December 2020.

In addition to breaking the chain of spreading Covid-19, which is increasingly widespread, sterilization can also be carried out throughout the campus environment. So that at the beginning of the year, it is hoped that cases will decrease and the campus environment will return to sterile and safe to use by some lecturers and employees for office pickets or with strict restrictions on on-campus activities.

Adjie also appealed to the public not to trust the hoax news spread out there if the source is unclear and not directly from ITS. The public can access official information from ITS through the official news page at ITS on the link its.ac.id/news or can follow it on ITS official social media, namely Instagram @its_campus.

“There, people can update the latest information from ITS and be more reliable. Because the source is directly from ITS internal, “said Adjie.

As the most innovative campus in handling Covid-19 in Indonesia, ITS will continue to strive to help the government address this pandemic. As Chair of the ITS Covid-19 Task Force, this lecturer at the Urban and Regional Planning Department (PWK) asked the public to help through small steps, namely by not readily believing in the news whose sources were unclear. The flow of information will be maintained clearly, and Covid-19 can be carried out optimally without interfering with circulating rumors. (ris/ITS Public Relations)
