ITS Campus, ITS News – The registration period for the 2021 National Entrance Test for Higher Education (SNMPTN) was officially closed, Wednesday (24/2) at 15.00. At this stage, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) was recorded as having received 11,071 registrant files consisting of 10,650 students interested in science and technology (science) and 421 students interested in social and humanities.

ITS Education Director Dr. Siti Machampang S.T., M.Eng said, at the SNMPTN registration at ITS in 2021, the Study Program with the highest interest fell to the Informatics Engineering Department. “Still the same as previous years, Informatics Engineering has quite a lot of enthusiasts,” she said.

The woman familiarly called Machampang continued. The study program with the most enthusiasts was the Information Systems Department, followed by the Electrical Engineering Department in third place. The three departments come from the same faculty, namely the ITS Faculty of Electrical and Intelligent Information Technology (FTEIC).

The fourth position is the Department of System and Industrial Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering in fifth place, both from the ITS Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (FTIRS). “For the study programs with the most enthusiasts this year, it happens that all of them are in the scientific family,” Machampang added.

As it is known that not only study programs for students interested in science and technology, ITS also opens study programs for students interested in social and humanities. For this family, the Department of Business Management is the study program with the most enthusiasts, followed by the Department of Development Studies for the second place. “The two study programs are under the Creative Design and Digital Business Faculty (FDKBD) or Creabiz ITS,” explained Machampang again.

After registration is closed and students have finished finalizing the roster, the SNMPTN ITS selector team consisting of the Chancellor, Deputy Chancellor, Dean, Secretary of the Institute (Sekits), Director of Education, and Head of the ITS Sub-Directorate (Kasubdit) will select the applicants’ files.

The ITS Chemical Engineering Department lecturer explained the main consideration used by the selector team in selecting students who passed the SNMPTN path lies in the history of student achievement, the track record of their high school (SMA), and also their respective report cards. ITS will accept as many as 1,194 students through this route.

Machampang advised all the hero campus student candidates to always pray for the best results. “Of course, there is no need to be discouraged if you have not been accepted through the SNMPTN route because there are still opportunities to become ITS students through other channels,” she said encouragingly.
