ITS Campus, ITS News – Implementation of the Computer-Based Writing Examination (UTBK) will hold on April 12, 2021, has already begun to be prepared. Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), as one of the UTBK centers, is ready to serve approximately 9,230 exam participants while still implementing the established health protocol (prokes).

According to the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Admissions at the ITS Education Directorate, Dr. Eng Unggul Wasiwitono, ITS has made a series of preparations ahead of UTBK. Among other things, in the form of completing facilities and infrastructure related to the technical implementation of UTBK, provision of the Person in Charge of Location, Supervisors, Person in Charge of IT, and health protocols.

Regarding the unfinished situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, continued Unggul, in his preparation, ITS has coordinated with the Surabaya City Covid-19 Task Force and assessed the readiness of the program by the Surabaya City Covid-19 task force. ITS has also coordinated with PLN and the local police to support the implementation of UTBK.

In ensuring the safety and health of the participants themselves, Unggul said that participants must follow the program according to the Covid-19 protocol SOP for the implementation of UTBK ITS. Starting from the SOP for delivery and inspection, SOP in the waiting room, SOP for delivery to the room, SOP for entering the room, SOP for exams, SOP for leaving the room, and picking up to SOP for sterilization.

Besides, participants who are allowed to take the exam are expected to be in a healthy condition. However, for the provisions of the rapid test requirements, Superior said, ITS would refer to the policy of the Surabaya City Covid-19 task force, which temporarily stated that it did not require participants to bring the rapid test results. “Even though the information while participants are not required to have a rapid test, ITS will still apply strict health protocols according to the SOP,” he said.

In implementing UTBK 2021, said Unggul, ITS has also prepared computer devices that will be used by test participants. “The availability (computer, red) is sufficient for 9,230 participants who will take the exam at ITS,” he said.

In fact, according to this Mechanical Engineering lecturer, ITS has also made room preparations for the exam location. For this, ITS has collaborated with the Politeknik Elektro Negeri Surabaya (PENS), Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya (PPNS), and IT Telkom Surabaya. “This cooperation is done in the form of borrowing exam locations, computers, and UTBK executing officers,” said Unggul.

Regarding UTBK supervisors themselves, he continued, there was no UTBK supervisor selection process for this year. So that lecturers who are willing to become supervisors will immediately be directed to register in the supervisory management system. To improve the professionalism of their performance, they get provisioning and simulation in advance regarding supervision in UTBK.

The implementation of UTBK this year, according to Unggul, has not changed many rules because the principles applied are almost the same as the previous year. “Because it is still a pandemic, it is technically the same and preparations are almost the same (with last year’s UTBK),” he said.

UTBK 2021 will be held on April 12 – 18 for the batch I and April 26 – May 2 for batch II with two exam sessions. For the total number of participants who will be able to take the exam per session, only 875 participants are the same as the previous year. “For this schedule, there is a slight change in the time of the second session in the afternoon, but it does not affect ITS readiness in implementing UTBK,” explained Unggul.

The hope is, by upholding the implementation of health protocols and ITS readiness that is more mature, UTBK 2021 can run smoothly both from a technical point of view and health protocols as expected. “Hopefully it will not cause a new Covid-19 cluster at UTBK 2021 at ITS,” he concluded hopefully. (pan/ITS Public Relations )
