ITS Campus, ITS News – Often, people are confused about finding a suitable gift or gift, inspiring Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) students to provide solutions by designing a startup called CariKado. Thanks to an exciting idea, this new startup managed to get funding from the 2021 Indonesian Student Startup Acceleration (ASMI).

CariKado is a custom gift marketplace with various Artificial Intelligence (AI) based products and gift choice recommendation services. “With CariKado, we can find unique gifts that fit our budgets,” said Rofita Siti Musdalifah, CariKado team leader.

Quite different from other similar marketplaces, CariKado offers many exciting features for users. There are filter services and gift categories that have been tailored to the needs of buyers. In addition, there is also a custom gift service, as well as gift selection recommendations. “Users will get a different experience because we are very concerned about the user experience for users,” said Rofita convincingly.

The CariKado Marketplace is supported by AI technology in chatbots, virtual robots that can understand and process user requests. This chatbot’s existence helps buyers determine the prize through several questions that the bot will ask. This technology is contained in a feature called Chat Caca which will help provide recommendations in choosing gifts.

In addition, not only making it easier for buyers but CariKado also helps local craft entrepreneurs. Rofita said that many handicraft businesses have excellent and unique products but have difficulty reaching a broad target market. “For now, we are still focusing on MSMEs, which have already started selling online first,” explained the girl from Madiun.

After successfully getting funding from ASMI 2021, the CariKado team is now in the beta testing stage, which is the stage that aims to find and identify as many bugs or problems in the system as possible. CariKado will be officially launched in July 2021 and can be accessed through the carikado.online page. “In the future, we will continue to develop ourselves and present it in the form of applications both on Android and iOS,” said the student from the Department of Informatics Engineering.

Not alone, Rofita said that CariKado’s achievements to this stage were thanks to his team’s hard work. They are Anggun Wahyuni, Abdur Rachman Wahed, Yohan Ardiansyah, and Aflakah Nur Farhana who are also from the ITS Informatics Engineering Department, and Anisa Luthfiah from the ITS Business Management Department.

Rofita said that CariKado has high hopes that in the future, it can become a gift marketplace in Indonesia with the best gift choice recommendation system service. “I hope CariKado can be the best solution for users and can help MSMEs, especially in the field of gift crafts,” concluded Rofita.
