ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is well-known as a campus that produces students with the competencies needed in the business and industrial world (DuDi). This is evidenced by the success of ITS in becoming a university with the highest number of national short courses in the Indonesian Student Micro-Credential (KMMI) program organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti).

KMMI is a program to support the Independent Learning Campus policy by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek). The KMMI program provides opportunities for students to study outside the campus and is designed as a medium that bridges the gap between universities and DuDi. The organizers of the KMMI program are universities that submit proposals and are declared to have passed the selection.

Related to this, ITS succeeded in passing 21 short teaching courses spread across five faculties and 15 departments. With details, the Faculty of Science and Data Analytics (FSAD) has five classes, the Faculty of Civil, Planning and Earth Engineering (FTSPK) has four courses, the Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) has one study, the Faculty of Electrical Technology and Intelligent Information Technology (FTEIC) has six courses, as well as the Faculty of Creative Design and Digital Business (FDKBD) of five courses.

The Head of Industrial Internship Management Sie for the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) ITS Hertiari Idajati ST MSc happily welcomed this achievement. She revealed this achievement of ITS is a sign that the quality of teaching at ITS has been recognized nationally.

“With the 21 short courses selected, there are more opportunities for DuDi partners involved in teaching to share experiences from their perspective with students,” explained the lecturer, who is often called Ida.

The forms of KMII activities held at ITS consist of theoretical learning and practicum and independent assignments that take relevant case studies with DuDi partners. Education is carried out online and is carried out at least 16 meetings for at least eight weeks. “Short courses have Semester Learning Plans (RPS) that differ in the duration of learning; some are held twice a week, some have one meeting,” she added.

According to this ITS Regional and City Planning Department (PWK) lecturer, the learning process in the KMMI program itself is required to involve partners from DuDi. Ida added, ITS provides a quota of 80 percent of ITS students and 20 percent of students outside ITS for each short course class. To take this short course, students must register through the KMMI Management Information System (SIM) on the https://kmmi.kemdikbud.go.id page. Students who pass the selection will take part in learning from July to September 2021.

Ida explained, after taking the KMMI short course, students will receive a certificate that can be converted to Semester Credit Units (SKS) for studies and portfolios on a Diploma Companion Certificate (SKPI) or other recognition by the applicable rules at each university. . “The weight of the credits given on this short course is equivalent to three credits,” she continued.

Ending his presentation, Ida hopes that in the future, more short courses from ITS will qualify for the KMMI program. According to him, this KMMI program opens up vast cooperation opportunities between ITS and DuDi partners. With this KMMI, the industry can obtain information about the potential of ITS and non-ITS students who have the competencies required by DuDi. “Therefore, later on, students can become partners and part of the world of work and industry,” she concluded.
