ITS Campus, ITS News – The Independent Campus Learning Program (Program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka, MBKM) from the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) received a positive response from various parties. The Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) launched the Campus TV Roadshow by cooperating with several campus TVs in Indonesia to socialize the program. One of them is the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember TV or ITS TV for episode 01, Friday (9/7) afternoon.
With the theme of Kampus Merdeka Collaboration to Create Superior Quality of Indonesia’s Human Resources, the online roadshow came in webinars and lived broadcasts through the ITS TV YouTube channel.
The roadshow this time was opened directly by the Director-General of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti) Prof. Ir Nizam MSc DIC PhD IPU ASEAN Eng. ITS Rector Prof. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng PhD and other ITS higher-ups also attend to support the Ministry of Education and Culture’s program.
Other speakers from Kampus Merdeka also came. They are Dr Wagiran MPd as the Head of the Kampus Mengajar Program, Drs Andi Ilham Makhmud Dip Sc MM Apt as the Head of the Independent Student Exchange Program, and Nurhadi Irbath ST CEC LCC as the Head of the Certified Independent Study and Internship Program.
In his opening remarks, Nizam said that the Merdeka Campus was a concept born 100 years ago. According to Ki Hajar Dewantara, education aimed to make a cultured, independent human being. “Independent human beings, according to Ki Hajar Dewantara, are self-reliant, not dependent on others, and able to figure and determine their future,” he said.
According to Nizam, in the industrial era 4.0, there needs to be a learning model that is more in line with that era to meet the needs of jobs. The learning model must provide space and broad flexibility for students to prepare themselves to enter the world of work. “Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Culture formed the MBKM program to realize these things,” he said.
MBKM has nine main programs, including Student Exchange, Internships, Kampus Mengajar, Humanitarian Projects, Independent Studies, Research and Research, Entrepreneurship, Village Development, and State Defense. “These programs have received very positive responses from national, multinational companies, ministries, United Nations, and partner campuses,” said Nizam.
On the same occasion, the ITS Rector, often called Ashari, said that with this MBKM program, students would have more empathy, creativity, skills, and experience. At ITS, currently, 8,300 students have participated in this MBKM program. “In addition, ITS has also been successfully selected to be one of the recipients of aid funds of Rp. 37.8 billion in the 2021 Merdeka Campus Competition (PKKM) program,” he added.
Meanwhile, in his presentation, Wagiran explained further about the Kampus Mengajar program. Kampus Mengajar aims to facilitate students to contribute as agents of change for education sectors in Indonesia. “The Kampus Mengajar will provide hands-on experience to teach literacy, numeracy, and technology adaptation to elementary and junior high school students,” he explained.
For the Independent Student Exchange program, Andi Ilham Makhmud said that the program provides the study opportunity to universities abroad for one semester with a maximum of 20 credit transfer systems. “This program aims to produce the nation’s successors who can understand the diversity of Indonesia so that when they become leaders, students will be wise in making decisions,” he explained.
At the end of the event, Nurhadi Irbath explained further about the Certified Independent Study and Internship program. The program aims to provide real experience in the professional field for the students.
The Internship is an accelerated and accelerated internship program with well-designed learning experience. “Certified Independent Study designed like a classroom learning and based on real challenges faced by partners or industry,” he explained. (sel/ITS Public Relation)
