ITS Campus, ITS News – The construction project of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember three gates receives a positive response from the Surabaya City Government. The support for the implementation of the construction was delivered directly by the Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi during an audience with ITS Rector Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng at Graha Sepuluh Nopember ITS, Monday (30/8).

The plan for the construction project of the three ITS gates is now ready to be implemented. At his meeting with Eri, the ITS Rector, who is familiarly called Ashari, said that these three gates would beautify the environment’s appearance around the ITS campus located in Sukolilo, Surabaya.

Furthermore, Ashari said that this gate was also a marker for the ITS campus area. “Hopefully, motorists who enter the campus area can be more careful in driving,” he said at the meeting that took place in the Bromo Room.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Supervision of the Implementation of the ITS Master Plan, Ir Rachmad Basuki MT, explained the design for the construction of the ITS gate on the west side (direction to Jalan Kertajaya), north side (points to Jalan Mulyosari), and south side (direction to Jalan Arief Rahman Hakim).

Rachmad explains that the three ITS gates will begin construction in 2022 and begin with the construction of the north side gate. The structure on the north side gate is planned to be a roundabout monument. “Residents can use this iconic figure to take selfies later,” he said. 

At the end of his presentation, Rachmad also submitted a request for permission to implement the ITS roundabout monument to the Surabaya City Government. “The public will still be able to use the public roads, but with a more beautiful view, of course,” said the Civil Infrastructure Engineering Department lecturer.

Seeing the design presentation, Eri said he was satisfied with the design and was ready to support the construction of these three gates, including the new ITS roundabout. “This monument on the north side can become a new icon for the city of Surabaya in the future,” said the alumnus of the ITS Technology Management Masters.

Eri hopes that with the construction of this gate, the arrangement of the city of Surabaya can be better and more advanced. Eri added that this project is also a form of collaboration between universities and the Surabaya City Government. “I hope that in the future, there will be more collaborations that appear to work together to create a more advanced Surabaya,” he concluded.
