ITS Campus, ITS News – The Covid-19 pandemic has had a broad impact, not least for the growth and development of the nation’s children, who should be full of interaction and joy. Therefore, the Center for the Study of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) and the Department of Visual Communication Design (DKV) ITS, in collaboration with the Covid-19 Task Force (Satgas) for Behavior Change, released the Children’s Story Compilation Book as educational material Pandemic.
The head of the Community Service (Abmas) team from the ITS DKV Department, Rabendra Yudistira Alamin ST MDs, revealed that adults and children feel everyday life changes. Their point of view in navigating life amid a pandemic will undoubtedly be different and exciting to visualize. “This underlies the design of educational media with entertaining elements that are specifically intended for Indonesian children,” he explained.
Rabendra continued, the book, which is planned to be released in November, consists of 15 children’s stories divided into four categories: The beginning of the pandemic, Struggles during the pandemic, Efforts to raise hopes, and Dreams for the future. “This book is packaged through creative and inspirational stories so that it can touch the psychological side of the readers,” he said.
The work of ITS DKV students presents stories that carry good values, including hope, optimism, discipline, social solidarity, humanity, determination, and love for the homeland. Rabendra assessed that this book could provide pandemic education and good inspiration. “This book not only presents information that is practical and applied, but is also suitable for reading by the nation’s children from the age of 5 years,” he said.
Although the work of this book had experienced difficulties due to dynamic field conditions, this did not stop the creation of this book. This book, which is the result of a selection of 50 works by ITS DKV students, has gone through various revision processes from the writing team to its release. “The team of experts and experts from the Covid-19 Task Force for Behavior Change helped a lot in the editing process of this book,” he explained.
Rabendra hopes that the book, which can be accessed for free on the social media accounts of the Covid-19 Task Force for Behavior Change (@satgaschangebehavior), can provide education for children and entertain. “Through creative and inspiring stories, we hope that readers can take lessons and implement them in their daily lives,” he said hopefully.
