Strengthens Consolidation, Czech Ambassador Visits ITS for Cooperation

ITS Campus, ITS News – Czech Ambassador to Indonesia, Jaroslav Doleček, visited the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Friday (12/11), to strengthen relations by increasing cooperation that has been established since 2013. The visit, which took place at ITS Rectorate Building, was further discussion on the cooperation plan between ITS and the Czech Republic.

Jaroslav Doleček and his Czech Embassy were warmly welcomed by ITS Rector Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng. This visit aims to strengthen further and enhance cooperation between ITS and the Czech Embassy.

Dr (HC) Hermawan Kartajaya, as Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic, explained that ITS has been working with the Czech Embassy since 2013. Many cooperation has been done with ITS with the Czech Embassy and universities in the Czech Republic. “This time, there is an increase in cooperation between the Czech Embassy and ITS, one of which is a scholarship program for Czech students who want to study at ITS,” he explained.

Furthermore, Dr. Maria Anityasari ST ME, Director of ITS Global Engagement or ITS Global Partnership, explained the cooperation programs between ITS and the Czech Embassy. One of them is the Darmasiswa scholarship program. Maria mentioned that Darmasiswa is a scholarship program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) RI to all international students from various countries who have diplomatic relations with Indonesia to learn Indonesian language, art, and culture. “Two students from the Czech Republic studied at ITS in 2013 for six months through this program,” Maria said.

Also, ITS has cooperated with Cervenka Consulting since 2019. Cervenka Consulting is a Czech company that serves software consulting and development. In 2020, Dr Eng Radomir Pukl CSc from Cervenka Consulting was a speaker at the International Conference on Civil Engineering (ICCER) 2020. “In addition, Cervenka Consulting held license training to students of ITS Civil Engineering Department,” explained the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering lecturer.

Not only that, but ITS also cooperates with universities in the Czech Republic. ITS has three Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with three universities in the Czech Republic. There are several plans for the exchange of ITS students with its MoU in the Czech Republic. “Some of these universities are the Faculty of the Economics Technical University of Ostrava, Brno University of Technology, and Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU),” Maria explained.

Then, the following program is Community and Technological Camp (CommTECH). Namely, the flagship short program offered by ITS to lecturers, staff, and overseas partner students to learn about global communities and issues in depth. “In two weeks, CommTECH participants learn and explore knowledge and skills on a particular topic, then work together to solve problems in society,” Maria explained.

In addition, Maria presented other programs, including Fun Indonesian and Cultural Course (FBICC), an ITS program to introduce Indonesian language and culture abroad, Guest Lecture Series on Sustainable Development Goals (GLS on SDGs). She expects that this program will invite more lecturers, experts, and academics from worldwide as speakers. Also, ASEA UNINET (ASEAN European Academic University Network) that bridges collaboration between universities in Southeast Asia and Europe.

Hermawan Kartajaya said he was very optimistic and enthusiastic about these programs from this visit. “In the future, through programs that have been described in detail by the Director of Global Partnerships of ITS, we hope to become a forum for students in the Czech Republic and abroad who want to study at ITS,” he concluded.
