ITS Campus, ITS News – The Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) received grants in the form of funds and educators or tutors from the United States Embassy (Embassy) through the Regional English Language Office (RELO) institution. During his visit to ITS Global Kampong, RELO discussed the sustainability of the Academic Writing Center (AWC) program, Thursday (18/11).

AWC is one of the programs under ITS Global Engagement or the ITS Global Partnership Directorate (DKG) and the ITS Postgraduate and Academic Development Directorate. This program helps ITS students produce academic writing in English worthy of publication internationally. “ITS is an innovative and active partner in developing a world-class university,” said Dr. Bradley Horn, Regional English Language Officer at the US Embassy Jakarta.

This program is open to graduate students, lecturers, and final-year undergraduate students. In his remarks, Dr. Bradley Horn said that ITS is one of four universities in Indonesia entitled to this grant and hoped they could collaborate. “Our mission is to strengthen relations between the United States and Indonesia in the field of education,” he said.

On the same occasion, Assistant Cultural Officer of the US Embassy Jakarta Mary K Threchock revealed that ITS and RELO are strongly committed to bringing a better future for education in Indonesia and the world. “It is not only limited to creating quality journals, but works must also have a positive impact on the world,” he said.

Continued by Prof. Heri Kuswanto, the Director of Postgraduate and Academic Development of ITS and the coordinator of the AWC program, said that several programs could support students’ abilities. Workshop programs, 1on1 consultation, Researcher and Research Student Enrichment Program (R2SEP), and the ITS Research Leadership Program. “Students will receive personal training by tutors in the 1on1 consultation program,” said the ITS Statistics Department lecturer.

Heri hopes that this program can run effectively even during the pandemic. He has designed a hybrid system (online and offline) for the smooth running of the program in the future. Heri also expressed his gratitude to RELO for supporting this AWC ITS program. “Hopefully, this program can continue and be utilized optimally by ITS students,” he concluded. (ITS Publc Relation)
