ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to expand its partner network with foreign universities to support its mission as a World Class University. This time it was shown by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Malaysia online, Wednesday (26/1).

According to the Head of the Department of System and Industrial Engineering (TSI) ITS Nurhadi Siswanto ST MSIE Ph.D., the signing of the MoU and MoA is the starting point for cooperation between the two parties in terms of research and education. Previously, ITS has also collaborated with various universities in the world. “Especially with Malaysia, UTeM will be the umpteenth Malaysian university that has a relationship with ITS,” he said.

He further explained this collaboration would bridge ITS with UTeM in the academic and research fields. He also explained that this is a solid effort to explore cooperation by UTeM, especially with the Manufacturing Vocational School (FKP) related to student exchange, lecturers, and double degree programs based on international cooperation.

Nurhadi said that the cooperation between the two major universities in their respective countries does not only focus on engineering, economics, and technology. But it is highly expected to continue to develop skills and academics from the humanities side. “So we hope that with the signing of this MoU and MoA, the academic community can expand networking,” he explained.

Slightly mentioning the international class, Nurhadi said, this program allows ITS students to study abroad. The consequence of the program that ITS will start soon is that the department that opens international classes must have many overseas partners. “This is one of the goals of this MoU, in line with the department’s vision of internationalization going forward,” he said.

In addition to discussing the academic field, each party also explained the areas being developed, the focus of expertise, and the benefits of the field they were involved in. ITS stated that its focus is on robotics, environment, and energy fields. Meanwhile, UTeM focuses on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), prioritizing automotive and renewable energy.

This shows the enthusiasm between the two parties to hold further discussions between ITS and UTeM until an agreement is reached in other fields. (far/ITS Public Relation)
